Jeff Klopmeyer
Okay...all the respect to George Lucas and the gang at Skywalker. But I always thought that the Star Wars movie titles were really cool. "The Empire Strikes Back"..."Return of the Jedi"...those titles rock! Then came "The Phantom Menace". Well, though we all wanted to kill Jar Jar Binks as quickly as possible, the movie was pretty cool, and the title was at least livable. So they finally release the name of the next Star Wars movie a couple days ago, and it's...BATTLE OF THE CLONES??? Pardon me while I humbly express my opinion that it's THE CRAPPIEST MOVIE TITLE EVER CREATED IN THE HISTORY OF ALL MOVIE MAKING SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME! Okay. Whew! Glad I got that off my chest, and sorry for the off-topic post, but I know there are a few sci-fi buffs hanging around The Keyboard Corner who might have feelings about this. - Jeff Marketing Communications for MI/Pro Audio My solo music and stuff They Stole My Crayon
Jonathan Hughes
I agree. As the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons would say, "worst title ever!" I guess we should be glad he didn't name it "Send in the Clones." Jonathan
Dave Bryce
The really messed-up thing is that he can name it anything that he wants, and it'll still be friggin' huge - mainly from people hoping that it's better than the last one... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/rolleyes.gifhttp://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/eek.gifhttp://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network

Steve LeBlanc
A little trivia you may or may not know: The original title for Return of the Jedi was "Revenge of the Jedi" My brother has a copy of the original movie poster...pretty lame huh? Revenge of the Jedi was a much better title IMO...of course I think they could have left out the Ewoks. http://www.youtube.com/notesleb

The first movie alluded that they was something called the clone wars. Several of the books explored this story. I think Lucas actually has chosen to develop it further. Basically, the empire had developed a technology where they were able to clone humans, and it took the jedis a long time to wipe out these clones. OK, I'll stop before I sign my geek death wish. Stephen Fortner
Seven. Allow me to flag myself as a geek too. The "Revenge of the Jedi" title was dropped because, AFAIK, Lucas thought that "Revenge" was inconsistent with the Jedi good-guy philosophy. Human clones? I thought maybe they were talking about bad B-3 clones, like the Suzuki stuff. If I was on Tatooine, and was surrounded on one side by a wing of low-fling TIE fighters, but on the other by a legion of stormtroopers whose only weapons were XB-2's, on which they were trying to play "Carry on my Wayward Son" using the onboard Leslie effect, I don't need to tell you which way I'd run. Felix_dup1
My 4 1/2 year old son doesn't mind the title - and he liked Jar Jar Binks. On the other hand, I'm 34 - don't care for the title, and found Jar Jar annoying. With 4 movies in the series already done, and 5 more to go - I think that Mr. Lucas' marketing guys are on to something http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif

JMB
Yea, why not make it Episode II: Clone wars? But anyway I read that Lucas made it sound kind of cheesy on purpose. He said that he wanted to give that sort of pulp effect.

Rod S
Yea, why not make it Episode II: Clone wars? Actually, the rumor I heard that this was going to be the title. My brother has a copy of the original movie poster... I'm sure you could get some coin for that at Ebay from some SW fanatic... of course I think they could have left out the Ewoks. g05
i only have one problem with george lucas. he has the annoying habit of coming up with the coolest characters and then killing them off. example:boba fett. another example would be darth maul. i've heard from an "inside" resource that jar jar just has a little cameo in this second movie. this is good for all you jar jar haters. g. It really was a big mistake changing "Revenge" to "Return"- check out the anagram I made from the titles as they are: Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi Jeer- First Darth, then B.S. meek Ewok crap irritates us. Pat Azzarello
OK - More geek trivia. 1st - Originally, the 9th Star Wars episode was meant to be released in 2001 as they thought it would be fitting. With that in mind I guess I shouldn't complain about blown software release dates. 2nd - I always envisioned the discussion at the meeting where Jar Jar was presented to the producers going something like this: Producer: So how do we make this appealing. We need some humorous character. Writer: OK, so any ideas? PRoducer: Make sure it's a weird alien, not humanoid. Ad guy (they're everywhere): How about an alien Roger Rabbit??? All: Brilliant, but we'll have to save Jessica for Episode II. Pat http://www.patazzarello.com
