Another really good sounding tune.

I don't like the bass sound though, I just think it could be better.

Drums sound ok but the kick drum might be a bit too busy, maybe I'm wanting to hear it match the bass rhythm more...matter of taste?

I especially like the section with the cool staccato punches at about 2:05, very effective and jazzy.

Good ending.

Overall I really like this tune, just being critical http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif.

Nice!!

I really like this one.

It sounds similar to a record I have.( Patrick O'Hearn)

I don't think that the bass was bad.

I caught myself tapping with my foot with the beat and that's usually means that I like it.

Good recording also!

Thanks for critic http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif!!!

I tried to make this bass sound more like a real thing (I know it still isn't a real one, but it's way better than direct output from my keyboard), so I used a couple of plugins to make it fatter...

Kick was intentionally programmed this way to add more motion, 'cause bass is pretty much the same throughout all the tune, so I decided to add more rhythmic variety with that "busy" kick...

P.S. Is kick really too busy? http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif

Nah...I was just trying to find something wrong with your track http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif...it is the one thing I noticed but that's not necessarily a bad thing...I don't hate it, it did get my attention.

The song grooves regardless.

Very cool! Another cop show theme!I *like* what you did with the bass, it has a combination of analog sizzle and roundwound punch. Nice imagine when the faux guitar comes in at the 0:54 mark...

Lots of analog fans here eh? http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif I'm digging the ubiquitous lead patch. It fits perfectly here...

I don't think the kick is too busy, but there are a couple of kicks that fall in an "unnatural" spot from a player's perspective. Not that this is a bad thing, in fact, it ads a certain avant garde charm. I'm reminded of Herbie Hancock's Rocket. The little triplet tricks you throw in on the hats humanize the whole sound noticeably.

If I had to pick on this at all, it'd be in the area of recording quality. It's quite good, crisp and tidy, but has a little bit of strident upper-mids "in your face"-ness. That too may be on purpose, and it's very minor to my ear anyway.

Fine job!

I wish it was analog - but it's just "kinda" analog patch from Yamaha TG55 :-)) By the way I love this synth!!! - it's old and digital - polyphony is limited (16 voices) - but there's something almost analog in its sound....

I dug the bass sound, and I agree with the comment of the kick seeming to be 'on the wrong place', but I got to admit I'm a bit conversative in that respect. I didn't dig the lead too much, it still sounds a bit 'digital' to me, a little too bright, but maybe that was the intent.

Excellent tune overall.

A pleasant offering. I thought it was well recorded with a certain spaciousness to it. I liked the bass sound & the intro. It was kind of like Mission Impossible bass line. I hate when people compare stuff like that & here I'm doing it. If I would have to say that something could be improved it would be melodies. A little to simple. Other people I'm sure would say they like the simplistic nature of them. Another grea tune!!

Better late than never. I finally got a chance to download and listen to the cd compilation tunes this weekend. It was pretty awe inspiring. I am still on a high about the great talent we have rubbing shoulders here.

Sounds like a movie theme. The melody is simple, but just what the tune needs to build organically. What did you the lead voice on (sounds like a pulse wave)? The syncopated chord stabs are cool. They reminded me a bit of Herbie Hancocks Rockit kinds of stuff, but with a more electronic vibe.

I am a sucker for some of the percussion sounds you use, including the bright snare (starting at 90 sec), the simmons like toms and the wood block at the beginning.

Cheers,

Jerry

While I am not normally an advocate of pieces longer than 3 minutes..in this case I am forced to make an exception....

Predictable surprise!

This musical journey has that one special trait of being musically correct and at the same time has in its composition the unexpected surprise of the unexpected! Just like walking around a blind corner and knowing that the same things will be there today as was the day before...only to wonder and anticipate that perhaps there will something new and unusual but will still keep in the characteristic of the corner.

You have an unusual and potentially innovative compositonal talent...

Develop it!!!!

I agree on the "theme song sound". I listened before I read the thread and was suprised that other's felt the same way. (It'a a conspiracy) The bass was tight to me though; just a lttle loud. Then again, I like rap music. i also thought your piece flowed very well from beginning to end. Also, I'd like to give a shout out to everyone in the forum!!!
