neonjohn
It's so hard to pick, but I think the Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane single (both songs originally slated for Pepper) was their absolute peak. The psychedelic and the melodic, the heavy and the pop. They had recently decided not to tour anymore, and to devote all their energies to creative recording . . . with incredible results! Their (and George Martin's, of course) production ideas were rapidly expanding from the already advanced Revolver, and their songwriting was venturing further into new territory. But the divisiveness and unchecked individualism of their later stuff was not yet evident. neon Mixville Productions, LLC Creative Music and Sound Design "I guess all songs is folk songs. Laurie Z.
Picking a best Beatles tune is extremely difficult, because there are so many examples of excellence... But one of my top favorites is one I haven't seen mentioned: "We Can Work It Out". I love the bridge, and the song's optimism just resonates in me. I think anyone who's looking to improve their songwriting will learn much by studying the Beatles catalog of songs (of course, that could take a lifetime!). :-) lz http://www.lauriez.com http://www.mp3.com/lauriez (& one of my fave keyboard parts is the solo in "In My Life", too...) www.lauriez.com
Gulliver
"With a Little Help from My Friends" - this is it - the best Beatles song ever http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif (in my very humble opinion)! I am back.
