There was a thread a little over a year ago on the guitar forum, where dturner had posted a blues backing track and folks were having fun playing their solos over the track and posting the results. If I remember correctly, Wrave, Sylver, halljams, and a bunch of other good people participated. That's what drew me to these forums in the first place. I'm really looking forward to this collaboration, regardless of what team I end up in :thu:

That was a pretty neat I did, and I liked getting to just solo over someone else's blues changes. It was neat to hear how much a different solist came completely alter a piece.
I really don't know what to put here.

That's what I'm talking about fellas. Trying to create a space where each team member can be totally free to run around a little. I know for me at least I want to butt out as much as I can until the mixing/mastering process.

I'm leaning towards doing a couple of songs. Possibly on one song sending out a scratch drum track and letting the team just go for it. The bass can lay down a groove, and pass it on to the next guy etc... If the bass doesn't want to lead then maybe rythym guitar or keys can get it going. After the band puts out a scratch version we talk about it and then go for the real deal. This would be a true collaberation project.

Then, on a second tune I can toss together a progression and give everybody 16 measures or whatever to showcase your stuff, but still tie it together with some kind of vocal track/song theme.

it's all good

Cereal, that sounds cool. Especially if the teams end up trying to do two tunes each. One with little or no original concept (could be a real train wreck!) and then another with some structure.

Good ideas.

I'm really looking forward to this collaboration, regardless of what team I end up in  , but I was the first to post a solo on that blues number. I know I'm not that good, but it had been two weeks and no one had posted anything. I hoped that if I posted and people heard it, many folks would think, "Hey, I can do better than that!" and post something themselves. And it worked!

There were some real good solos laid down on that project. Two or three really impressed me but I can't remember who they were.

I think this project will be fun as well!

Hey Rim, I just now realized that you used to be "riffing"!! Yeah, I don't know what happened to dturner and the funk tune he was going to post. He just stopped posting one day. Too bad, he alway had cool stuff to share.

OK, it's the Friday of a three-day weekend (here in the US, anyway). It's time to do a shot!!! Who's up for one? The only rule is, it must be named after a dude (real or fictional).

For the teetotalers, toast with what you want!

Here's to the playas!

I just thought it Kreeepy that you would borrow his coat and hat and impersonate him like you did when you rolled your eyes and let out a great big DOH! in my general direction! :P

You know whats c/kreepy about this. I wasnt even in the house or studio at the time, I was at another house 40 minutes away. I only just got back to Sylver's place just now. What's going on!? Its confusing when you miss 4 days worth of posting.

Only until you read the crap that's been posted. Then it's like you never even left! :D
I dunno Super, Fly didn't get in on the disappearing images that reappeared in the bitch mode. :D

He might be just a little confused in reading some of the previous posts since all pic's are back to normal.:D:confused:

You can take the man away from his music, but you can't take the music out of the man.
