73 P Bass
First off this is so gay, and I don't mean in a good way that would really piss G W off, but just gay. But being the loser geek that I am, both my basses have names. My '00 Fender Am. Std. is named Anna after my Grandmother. She left me $500 when she past away, and I bought the bass. My '73 is named Pre-cilla, a pun on the King's wife (but there is no way we'll ever get divorced; I don't even like peanut butter and bannana sandwiches!). My name is Charles, and I'm a total geek. It's been two day since my last geeky act... "Start listening to music!". -Jeremy C

bubba upright
The Big Brown Beast. Bubba. Blondie. Ol' Blue. Baby James. And I was thinking of naming my Super-longhorn Wishbass Marlo, because when you turn it upside down, it kinda has a "That Girl" silhouette. "Study, study, study...or BONK BONK bad kids!" dohhhhh6
My black with white pickguard OLP MM2 is officially named Shelby. Got me thinking of cobra... so inevitably, Shelby popped up. Shelby... I like it. Although I do think Shelby should lose a little weight... In Skynyrd We Trust
Bartolini
My Black MM Sting Ray with Black Pick guard and Rose Wood neck is completely black. I never get to call it by any name since when I think I wanna play I just pick it up and play. Quietly when I walk off my wife while talking to her and when she asks me where I'm going, I wouldn't see myself saying something like ..urmm I'm gonna play a bit of Blackity now.. or etc. Shall think of some names though. So may be my MM Sting Ray will be.. Blackity Black

Ayatollah Watts
I got a white Fender Mexi-Jazz, I called her Angel when I first got her, but after awhile, like with women... the pet names get old.. and you just point your finger and grunt something when you want someone to bring it to you Pain teaches what pride won't let you learn... I'm impressed and afraid for you at the same time. In an unlikely circumstance, I have no names for my basses. Like others, I refer to them by their manufacturer's name. I'm thinking the best fix for this would be to start calling dcr often... Tom www.stoneflyrocks.com Acoustic Color Be practical as well as generous in your ideals. prophetgtree
I have named two of my basses. Fender P: Elizabeth- I don't know how this became her name... it just did! Ibanez BTB: Fatima- This comes from the book The Alchemist, where I saw it for the first time. I choose it because Fatima is the daughter of the Prophet. www.geocities.com/nk_bass/enter.html Still working on it...

fig
Oh, when one of my basses messes up (break a string, bad output jack, scratchy pots) they get a real quick succesion of names. Mainly "This f*****g thing". As in, "What's wrong with this f*****g thing?!". Or "I broke a string on this f*****g thing!" One time standing too near the mic, the audience got to hear some of my names. Ooopsy.... Bassplayers aren't paid to play fast, they're paid to listen fast. rotosound45
My 71 Jazz was often referred to as Grampa. I've always called my Squier Strat the Homercaster because it kinda resembled Kirk Hammett's Hamstercaster - a scribbled moniker on the headstock of his black strat-compatible guitar in the "One" video. ATM
In 1978 Electra made the Outlaw MPC & Outlaw MPC Bass (both named after the band "The Outlaws" who were Electra endorsers at the time.) I own the Outlaw Bass X610, so I did a little homework and named it O'Keefe, after The Outlaws bassist, Frank O'Keefe. http://www.musburger.net/bass/outlawmarkiv2.jpg The Rogue Acoustic-Electric, I call the Rogue.
