Chip McDonald
.. features a guitar player (me), upright bassist, and a drummer. (hang on...) We play spontaneous music made up on the spot, but it's not "jamming", more "sound track" perhaps. The drummer comes from a hard-core jazz back ground, hyper-technical chops, currently does a High Profile Funk gig for his day job. The bass player plays upright bass and is well versed in traditional jazz, BUT - he usually loops his bass, then adds sounds from different oddball toy music-makers he has, overlays wacked out beat up analog synth things. I try to tie it together, but of course my influences are all over the place. No, surprise, I don't spray notes all over everything like a cat in heat. WAIT, I'M NOT FINISHED We usually play about a 2-3 hour set consisting of one "song". No stopping really. Nothing planned out. Just "go". Along the way we've got keyboard players, samplers, dj's, horn players, percussionists, sitars, tablas, digiridoo....ists, poets, coming up and collaborating while trying to make it cohesive. Gets dissonant at times. Usually sounds like Pink Floyd produced by David Lynch maybe. Usually go into different ethnic directions, cross pollenizing along the way (did something tonight that was perhaps "country western koto electronica". Really...) . As a joke we've been "Leche del Pollo" (figure it out), but we need a legit name. Basically, in a nutshell - "we do everything all at the same time without planning anything and try to make it work". So I need a band name, and I need it before 12:00 thursday night (when we play again). "?" Philip OKeefe
Last time someone asked for a name for something (A home studio, if memory serves) Mr. Yousitona Vagiebunghole showed up and "forced" me to make my "Fletcheresque" flamepost... I dunno if we want to go THERE again! ;) And if memory serves, the most liked name had something to do with spiders too... "That's a really BIG spider" or something like that...
