Exactly, but it does seem that the principles are valid and that with time and effort, this could happen. Of course, then there are the questions about logevity and such, but I've had really good luck with optical media. YMMV. It could store a different bit image at each azimuth angle, so it had a pretty high capacity. As far as I know it never made it out of the lab though. Like most lab curiousities...
