KuruPrionz
Irish folk music is part of American music history as well. When I was in high school the great Kenny Hall wanted me to play guitar in his Irish jig band. Kenny played mandolin and knew over a thousand Irish folk songs. He was blind so it was all memory. He heard me play and he wanted me to play a flattop guitar. At that point I owned an archtop and saw no reason to change so he got somebody else, which was fine with me. That was in Fresno, up here in B'ham I know some musicians who play Irish music. I could play it but I have other interests. Writing my own songs comes first. Quote It took a chunk of my life to get here and I am still not sure where "here" is.
Ivan May
I actually own a few Chieftains albums in my collection. I really like their Christmas album they did, I like their version of the Wexford Carol with Nanci Griffith on vocals and their version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman with the Chieftains drummer Kevin Conniff on vocals.
