Dave Bryce
Phenomenal show tonight in Santa Monica. 😍🔥 Mostly his material, but a killer version of No Mystery to close the show. dB 4 Quote ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==
Delaware Dave
Love Stanley, been listening to him since the 70's and have many vinyl albums (remember those?) of his band as well as when he played in Return to Forever. I remember seeing RTF with Gayle Moran at the Philly Spectrum either in the late 70's or early 80's, they played 5 songs and an encore; the concert lasted 3 hours! Glad to see that he is still making great music. 1 Quote 57 Hammond B3; 69 Hammond L100P; 68 Leslie 122; Kurzweil Forte7 & PC3; M-Audio Code 61; Voce V5+; Neo Vent; EV ELX112P; GSI Gemini & Burn Delaware Dave Exit93band
Docbop
I wasn't all warm and fuzzy when I read the title of this thread. I'm not a big fan of Stanley Clarke on ELECTRIC bass, but I LOVE Stanley Clarke on upright bass. Hiromi was someone I was slow to warmup to but have become a big fan. I'm still undecided about her new album some of the material I haven't liked so I have to sit and take in the whole project before deciding. I'd really like to hear Hiromi with Christian McBride who I like both his electric and upright playing I think that would be very interesting.
ProfD
It's great to see 72-year-old Stanley Clarke who looks ageless still in top form; mentoring and playing with a younger generation of musicians. He's showing how it's done. 😎 1 1 Quote PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E. David Emm
For some reason, I was surprised when the liner notes on Stanley's solo LP "Journey To Love" listed him as playing bowed bass. It made perfect sense. I still say "A Song To John" is one of the most beautifully emotional instrumentals I can name. Chick truly outdid himself on accompanying piano, too. I've heard both men in many settings & team-ups, but that piece is, for me, just plain riveting. He and Hiromi are an excellent match. 1 1 Quote “The joy of dogs is that they free us of our own undignified existence, our self-consciousness and inhibitions; our self-imposed hindrances to pleasure; our unwillingness to be embarrassed, exposed, or vulnerable.” ~ Alexandra Horowitz
