Brotha @Mark Schmieder, thanks for sharing that very cool article.

As the former owner of both a Prophet 6 and Prophet XL, I have firsthand experience with excellent Sequential products.

The legacy of Dave Smith (RIP) will live on as musicians continue to mine the synths he created and technology he inspired.😎

Great article! I had a repair issue with my Take 5 recently and had to contact Sequential, they were fantastic to deal with, and the expertise and enthusiasm of both people I dealt with at the company was really refreshing.

Dave Smith didn't invent the polyphonic synthesizer. Yamaha and Oberheim preceded Sequential. What Smith did was develop the first fully programmable polysynth. The analog synth section of the Prophet 5 was designed by Dave Rossum of E-mu who was also involved in the design of the SSM sound chips used in the rev. 1 and rev. 2 Prophets.  Rossum's scanning keyboard design was licensed for use in Oberheim polysynths prior to his involvement with Sequential.

Gibson G101, Fender Rhodes Piano Bass, Vox Continental, RMI Electra-Piano and Harpsichord 300A, Hammond M102A, Hohner Combo Pianet, OB8, Matrix 12, Jupiter 6, Prophet 5 rev. 2, Pro-One, CS70M, CP35, PX-5S, WK-3800, Stage 3 Compact

The Hammond Novachord and the Warbo Format Organ both before WW2 were the first polyphonic synthesizers.  The Warbo had the first scanning matrix keyboard.
