Docbop
Most the time you hear J3PO AKA Justin Pollack he's playing synths or doing videos for those Red keyboards. <grin> Well when on not his Red board he plays his signature model Vintage Vibe and sometime even going to his roots of straight ahead Jazz. Enjoy a lot of the other side of J3PO
timwat
I've been a fan of Pollack's since the first time I heard his straight jazz trio work, I guess from when he was just starting out. Then his vocoder lead vocal days, which I thought was tastefully done (although others may disagree). Wonderful musicality, to my ears, in everything I've heard from him, whether in straight ahead, contemporary, funky, or whatever. I hope his career really takes a big step up due to his tenure with Marcus. And of course, on a side note, I've never met him but I hope he stays grounded and isn't a jerk. But fame and professional success doesn't require that, if history teaches us anything. 3 Quote ..
ProfD
I've mentioned Julian.Pollack aka J3PO in a few threads around here. I believe J3PO is one of the young cats who's using his musicality and influences in a forward thinking approach to synths and KBs in general. Nick Semrad is another one who's not in the past when it comes to synth programming and playing KBs. I hope there's a lane in the music business for them to continue to grow and flourish as musicians. 😎 Quote PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E. CyberGene
I’m probably missing some context, so my opinion might come as rude (?) but I know J3PO from synth demos for Sequential and Oberheim and he’s a fine player. What I’m seeing here is also a fine Rhodes playing which confirms that he’s a fine player. But I don’t see anything extraordinary. Am I missing something? P.S. I think I see it. It’s rare to see a popular synth guy actually being able to play (jazz) so well. Most of them are only demoing filter swells with resonance and can’t play keyboards at all. Indeed, J3PO is multi-talented 👍🏻 I can’t think of many keyboard players who are equally as good in straight ahead jazz and synth programming 👏🏻
bjosko
I think it is wery well played, but I have no doubt he could play that kind of music very well. But most of all, I’m digging the sound of the Vintage Vibe, it is a nice place between Rhodes and Wurlitzer with a lovely warm tone. 1 Quote /Bjørn - old gearjunkie, still with lot of GAS

Check out the music he plays and composes beyond synth demos. 😎 1 Quote PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E. Iconoclast
I bought some patch banks from him and they were all eerily spot on for the songs. He seems to have a pretty wide set of skills. The patch bank I bought from him had a lot of Rush patches in it. Artistically pretty far away from the OP's youtube. His musical vocab is huge. 1 1 Quote You want me to start this song too slow or too fast? Forte7, Nord Stage 3, XK3c, OB-6, Arturia Collection, Mainstage, MotionSound KBR3D.
