All the dudes are expendable as far as performing and touring go. Lindsay Buckingham contributed beautiful coloration. They could find someone who could copy his parts closely. However he may not have formally "collaborated" with co-writing credit on everything but he at least added his unique style playing guitar on the other's songs. No matter who was singing the band has had a distinct sound because of Lindsay's guitar style. The void from his absence would show up if they were writing new material and Christine was around. (Hell, when he's not in the band, it takes two blokes to replace him). But I must credit Christine's songwriting.
