Doerfler
listened to this quite a lot during lockdown 2.5 years ago when I was in the house often. Prince as a teenager, RIP

Daft Punk have a lot to answer for on this track. Lee Sklar super-smooth for a funky track - so restrained. And what can you say about Goldings? ProfD
Prince's range as a multi-instrumentalist from a young dude was well known among the folks who were around him especially musicians. As a musical detour, Prince did a Jazz project called Madhouse. That project allowed him to go beyond the confines of radio-friendly music. Prince's musicality is sprinkled throughout the body of work he composed, played and recorded from movie soundtracks to obscure recordings. Prince's genius was being able to consolidate his musical influences into 4 minute songs for Pop music consumers. Prince understood that the music business was more interested in making money than promoting art. He definitely had his stolen moments of being able to stretch out. 😎 4 Quote PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E. Stefan011
Yep, Madhouse (especially the first one) is a lovely smooth jazz record. The rhytm section consisting of Prince and Prince works really nice. His later fusion endeavours IMHO dont work so much despite some great musicians involved.
