Dannyalcatraz
I used to have an avatar of an Ammonite fossil composed of gem silica for I don"t know how many years. It looked something like this: But it didn"t survive one of the board"s software updates, and I would like to freshen things up with a new avatar. Perhaps, like my original one, it will be a visual nod to me being sort of a colorful fossil.ð Or maybe something else. What I need is a way to modify an image so that it will conform to the site"s size restrictions, and the thumbnail generators I used to use back in the day are now defunct. Any suggestions? Dave Bryce
If you're on a Mac, the Preview program will let you resize any photo. dB Quote ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network
Dannyalcatraz
Really? Although I"m almost exclusively an Apple dude right now, I primarily use my iPhone & iPad unless I"m doing serious work. Hadn"t even looked at my Mac because most of my graphics programs are too old to run on it properly. Quote Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Dave Bryce
Yup. Open program, load file, Tools menu -> Adjust Size. Unless you've set your Mac otherwise, I believe that any photo on your desktop will open in Preview if you just click on the photo. dB Quote ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network
Dannyalcatraz
On a whim, I tried a token (game piece) generator for online gaming to see if the images it created would work for making images usable as avatars, and whaddaya know, it did! Works with mobile devices, FWIW. Here it is. http://rolladvantage.com/tokenstamp/ Quote Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. desertbluesman
I use windows computers here. I do have an I-Phone and I-Pad, but I just use the I-phone for calls and texting, and the I-pad for games and puzzles. For most of my online work it is my Windows Laptop, for recording my Sonar Based DAW is a Windows desktop.
