nursers
I'm guessing a lot of us here have cupboards full of tshirts they rarely wear, but I'm interested in what you consider your go-to rock t-shirts for gigs if it's that level of dress? For me they've usually black and often tour t-shirts. For example I often wear a Toto tour shirt from when they toured last year and also regularly wear a black Hug Cornwall (from The Stranglers) shirt when playing pub gigs. What's your go-to? KuruPrionz
It's been a LONG time since I've worn a t-shirt at a gig. My favorite was one my brother found (and I stole!!) when he went skiing. It was yellow and had large black block letter text that said "MOST DIFFICULT." Quote It took a chunk of my life to get here and I am still not sure where "here" is. Mike Rivers
I almost never wear t-shirts, and I have a closet full - not many band, but a lot of audio and music products. An original Twelve Tone Systems, Ampex Golden Reel Award, lots of stuff that isn't made any more. I really should get rid of them, but I hate to just throw them away. They might make an interesting quilt. Quote For a good time call http://mikeriversaudio.wordpress.com
Doerfler
For me they've usually black Black, plain black, same on the front as on the back.

And that's a good call too Dave - I always think I'm going to buy a couple of black t-shirts then I look at the pile of others I have sitting there and decide I need to wear some of them first Quote The Keyboard Chronicles Podcast Check out your fellow forumites in an Apple Music playlist Check out your fellow forumites in a Spotify playlist My Music: Stainless Fields
Danzilla
I have enough Marillion shirts to go through a couple of weeks. For live shows, I'll often where the "Sounds That Can't Be Made" logo (black shirt; white & purple logo) or the flaming "Marbles" logo (grey shirt with white logo). Circuline is another band who's logo shirt I'll wear quite a bit. Then there are the three Progstock T's; 3rDegree's neon green shirt if I want to stand out; District 97 "In Vaults" logo... etc. etc. etc. Now if only I could fit in my old Deep Purple "Perfect Strangers" T. Notes_Norton
On the gig I wear either: (1) black suit, black shirt, contrasting tie, (2) Hawaiian shirt and khaki pants, or (3) tuxedo --- never just a T shirt. The tux is probably the least worn of the above 3 as I don't get that many formal gigs here in vacation land. I would never wear something that advertises another band on a gig. But there is more than one right way to make music. Anderton
T-shirts are my go to as soon as the temperature is above freezing , concerts or not. I have a couple t-shirts from a tour and a festival gig I did, but I don't wear those. Then again, I'm not gigging much these days...I need to fix that! Nathanael_I
Band T-shirts are my work-from-home wear if I'm not going to be on video conferences. Nightwish features heavily....Mostly symphonic metal bands.
J. Dan
Sometimes plain black. Mostly though I have a collection of shirts that would be hard to describe but definitely set me apart from the crowd as a band member. Greg Mein
I've got a huge closet of shirts, got rid of a few the other day. I'll bet at least half of them are Harley shirts, I've bought them at shops all over the country and a few from outside, the most recent were a sleeveless tee and nice long sleeve collared shirts from the Harley store in Cancun where we just got back from vacation. At gigs I normally wear one of my nice collared short sleeve Harley shirts. In warmer weather or outdoors I'll probably wear a sleeveless Harley shirt. A few of my Harley tees have a musical theme going on; Cleveland - R & R Hall of Fame, Memphis - Graceland, Nashville - Music City, etc.. Joe Muscara
I don't usually wear t-shirts at my gigs and not too often at other's shows. However, I will be wearing this shirt (if it arrives hopefully in time) at the Harry Connick Jr. concert next week. I hope you know why*. Also, it was designed and sold by our KC friend Josh Paxton, who also sells some other stuff at that store. Notes_Norton
I would never wear something that advertises another band on a gig. I don't think Toto pose a huge threat to my Wollongong Australia-based cover band No, it doesn't. However it puts you in the classification of a fan instead of a peer. IMO in the public's eyes it lowers your status as a musician. I've been fortunate enough to open for headliners in concert and I've recorded in major studios. I was always treated as a peer by musicians who were heavyweights before I got into the game. We are all professionals, some have better chops, some have better gigs, and the two are not mutually inclusive. I choose to represent myself as a peer, not a fan. Of course that's just me and my personal psyche. As I said many times, there is more than one right way to make music.
