I used to turn my nose up at it, when I was a kid and thought I wanted an early '80s, very 'Turbo-Distortion' kinda sorta sound (not realizing that a fuzz or treble booster of one kind or another could actually help me in that endeavor). I think that going 100% fingerstyle was the beginning of the path that led me to turn back to fuzz, and eventually to love it; that, and my using the guitars volume-knobs so much, particularly with dynamic tube-amp overdrive and distortion. Well, too bad for you!!! 🤣 From the beginning, I've always played acoustic guitar and over time I've learned how to get a variety of tones out of one, including finger style playing (which I do weirdly since I am left handed and play right handed). I love a good overdrive tone on electric guitar, reverb and sometimes delay. Rotary speaker sounds can be nice, especially with a bit of grit - be the "Hammond" player for a bit. All that and everything else (including fuzz) is just sitting inside my Peavey Vypyr VIP 1. I have both Sanpera pedals but hardly use them. I do like having volume and wah at my feet so then I use the Sanpera 1. I'm certainly no "purist", rather the opposite. I am more likely to use fuzz because I hate it than I would be to use it because I like it.
