Custom-made cabinet

Next year i will be fifty and playing at home while watching tv or being part of the living room instaed of a studio has become my personal favourite setting of enjoying music.

I have a Kawai MP8 running Garritan CFX at home and all the rest of my keyboards are over at my rehersal studio.

My brother ( an exceptionally skilled woodworker in wooden guitarstands) materialised my initial idea for a cabinet in my livingroom.

Here the pictures,.... it's a bit of wiring mess inside still, but i wanted to take pictures now !

Thanks guys, yes the wife...... at times i had up to four keyboards in our livingroom to program some new sounds during the evenings.

After 25+ years dealing with my total 'mess' from time to time it his her turn i guess.......

On the other hand i am going the vst route entirely now for home playing/recording and more than ever that can be a devil in disguise.

No one will notice what new stuff enters our home this time..

My wife was very good at this..... "the last time around you didn't have that black box between your keyboards"...............

Very nice - I love seeing custom made solutions likes this. It's nice that your controller has an angled display. I'm not sure how much clearance you have in the back but you might consider right angle connectors on your audio, midi and power cables if needed.

Well done! :2thu:

Yep I thought about that and the power supply is a right angled cable, but the pedal connecter is an ordinary plug, so that was my reference for how deep i wanted the cabinet to be. And possible future upgrades should be possible, so a tiny bit deeper because of my current set up is allright.

Besides that, i have a computer underneath with a monitor and with the latter i simply lift it on top of the cabinet while playing/composing. And i can put it away underneath in front of the computer. I keep the Integra7 and a Tascam DP-24 on the other side. So everything i will ever need at home is available in one closed cabinet when i am not playing.

I must say , my psyche had a positive effect when playing yesterday evening. It sounded and played better than before.Strange how some other factors also influence how we perceive our total playing experience....,
