simus35
long time I didn't post a pic a new stuff I got I got this second hand guitar yesterday, is Ibanez RG 1451 Prestige. First I was not a big fan of Ibanez. but this one is different from the other Ibanez I try, I don't know if is because this one is made in japan. But I like the neck and this one stay in tune after a lot of play even the g string. and the stock pup are great, I know is not dimarzio pup, but this guitar is great for pinch harmonic and the clean is like a fender strat and when I use disto wow this guitar is great I know this RG Prestige was made only during 2 year 2010 and 2011. but for me I like it because i'm not a big fan of tremolo on a guitar only those on a fender strat but I didn't use it http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt34/simus35/DSC00782.jpg http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt34/simus35/DSC00783.jpg http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt34/simus35/DSC00784.jpg http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt34/simus35/DSC00785.jpg http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt34/simus35/DSC00786.jpg sorry for my english i'm a french Canadien fender 65 Twin Reverb reissue Fender Stratocaster 1999 MIA Fender Stratocaster 2013 MIA Godin Artisan ST-5 Godin LG Signature Seagull S6 Yes I love Godin guitar

whitefang
You could have done much worse, simus. And if the price was right, it looks good enough to crow about. I'll tell ya, I wouldn't particularly buy a guitar with that body style, as I lean towards LPs or semi-hollow styles. But if I got it as a GIFT, well, I wouldn't exactly "kick it out of bed", if you know what I mean. And anyway, if YOU'RE happy, that's all that matters. Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
p90jr
Sweet. That's a hard rock machine, I'm sure. You must be filling up the basement these days with all the guitars you keep scoring!

simus35
I sold a lot of cheap guitar like my 2 squire, my fake Gibson les paul black beauty, my 2 cheap acoustic guitar and a fake fender Stratocaster and other cheap chinesse guitar, now I try carefully all the guitar I bought and I will never buy guitar online anymore. now what I got now is USA made, japan made and the only china made guitar I keep is my Epiphone Tribute 1960 here all my guitar I still have now Fender Stratocaster 1999 MIA (ash Body) Godin LG Signature Serie Made in Canada Godin Seagull S6 Made in Canada Epiphone Genesis custom 1980 Ibanez RG 1451 prestige made in Japan sorry for my english i'm a french Canadien fender 65 Twin Reverb reissue Fender Stratocaster 1999 MIA Fender Stratocaster 2013 MIA Godin Artisan ST-5 Godin LG Signature Seagull S6 Yes I love Godin guitar
Fred_C
I will never buy guitar online anymore. I totally agree that it is much better to play a guitar before buying it rather than buying solely "on spec". But, if you're interested in instruments that are not exactly mainstream, this is seldom possible. Every retailer I'm aware of sells the same lines and often the same models. Even in the unlikely event that the retailer is an "Authorized Dealer" for the brand of you're interested in, they seldom stock more than a few models. I like doing business w/MF. They give you 45 days to play the instrument and decide if you like it. Unfortunately, if the guitar is over $2,000.00, there is a 20% restocking fee that makes returning the instrument not particularly cost effective. But, if you stay under that $2K mark, you're home free. If you play cool, you are cool.
Accus1952
I sold a lot of cheap guitar like my 2 squire, my fake Gibson les paul black beauty, my 2 cheap acoustic guitar and a fake fender Stratocaster and other cheap chinesse guitar, now I try carefully all the guitar I bought and I will buy guitar online: ( Acoustic Guitar Selling Today ). now what I got now is USA made, japan made and the only china made guitar I keep is my Epiphone Tribute 1960 here all my guitar I still have now Fender Stratocaster 1999 MIA (ash Body) Godin LG Signature Serie Made in Canada Godin Seagull S6 Made in Canada Epiphone Genesis custom 1980 Ibanez RG 1451 prestige made in Japan That really very good to hear that you own an USA build guitar now. Dannyalcatraz
Nice score! Also, Fred_C has a solid point that I agree with 100%: sometimes, buying online si yr best or even ONLY option for getting w particular guitar. I speak from experience. My taste in guitars has always been a little out of the mainstream. So even though I live in a major metropolitan area (over 1M people), I usually can't find what I'm Interested in buying, I'd say only 1/5th of my guitars were bought in person...and 2 of those had to be special ordered. skipclone 1
I also am not especially inclined toward mainstream guitars-as time has gone on I`ve developed some gripes about life in Japan, as will happen. But as a place to buy instruments I`ll take it over the U.S. any day. Foot Locker tried to get established in Japan and ended up packing it in, for just that reason. They had like two or three brands of shoes. Things don`t work like that here. It`s across the whole consumer goods spectrum. If you find something you like, buy it, because it may not be there in a week. It doesn`t matter if it`s popular, or reliable, or anything else. It will be gone. Ergo music stores will have guitars from Moon- http://www.moon-guitar.co.jp/products.html or Tyler- http://tylerguitars.com/ These days, when somebody starts going off about how `There`s Fender, Gibson and Rickenbacker. Everything else is a knockoff`-that is total crap. Look, if your store only has three brands of guitar, just say it. But don`t start on this `you don`t need anything else` nonsense. Like, please. Larryz
This is an old thread from 2012. We haven't heard from Simus lately. I wonder if he still has the guitar and if he still enjoys it... Take care, Larryz
CEB
HSH is one on my favorite pickup layouts. My 87 Ibanez is setup like that with The Edge tremolo. I have been thinking seriously of taking it off eBay since I will be playing in a Rock band again. It is price fairly high so if it sells that is OK also. skipclone 1
I should add to my earlier statement. Japan is a fantastic place to buy instruments. As far as finding a decent guitar tech... I`ll just say the U.S. is light years-I mean that as a physical distance-ahead.
