Griffinator
I feel like a real idiot for asking this, but Hammond voicings really trip me up, and I'm having difficulty sussing out the solo here, as simple as it is. The first part is pretty straightforward, obviously, it's a simple arpeggio. The chords, OTOH, with the organ grit, are a bit harder to pick out. Any suggestions? non ce futuro
You mean the animated part, from around 0,34 on? Chords are just Gm and then Eb7, doing a chromatic scale downwards from G to Eb... Or you mean the chords of the whole song?
Griffinator
No, I mean the solo (2:12-2:27). The chords start around 2:20. A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.
non ce futuro
I think playing Gm, a high D note (with grace notes C#) and a G on top of it will work. Then Eb7 playing the same thing with the Db and C as grace note, keeping the top G. You will get that bluesy feel I would play it (RH chords) G-D(with grace notes)-G, and then G-Db (with grace notes)-G. That's how I would play it on organ, not an organ expert though
Griffinator
So we're thinking just a diad? Or is the Bb in there as well? A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.
non ce futuro
I don't thing the Bb is on the right hand, as far as I can hear... Also with the Bb the second chord would be really difficult to play, playing the Bb and the Db with the C grace notes simultaneously... But you probably can play the first one Bb-D-G and the second one without the Bb, I think it wouldn't make a big difference
Griffinator
Like you, I'm far from a Hammond expert. I'll certainly give that a go, though, unless one of our genuine Hammond masters around here has something else to add... A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends. Griffinator
I thought there was another note in there, I just couldn't spot it for all the grind. A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.
CrimsonianKing
I'm going with Moe on this one, i hear... DFG then DbFG then DbF, CF(2x) and ends on DbF On the left hand, i'm not sure he's using just ghost notes or GBb or just G, try it out and see which sounds better. SK
Two 3 note chords are being slurred - no biggie - Gm7 (like Moe said (in right hand) G on top, with an F underneath and Db on bottom being slurred up to a D) and then the same two notes on top (G and F), but a C slurred to a Db on the bottom - which makes it a Eb 7 or actually Eb9. Griffinator
It does sound like the LH is just the G popping in and out of there against the RH. A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.
