I simply cannot remember a time when the level of hate was so high. I do believe the country will wake up and stop this "progressive" march towards the total destruction of our American values.
This is true. Every decade was/is different. Look at the early 50's compared to the late 60's. The socialist/pinko/liberal movement started in the US in the 1930's. Its been about 75 years, I would hope that SMART Americans would have learned by now that utopia does not exist, but if it could, AMERICA is it. The liberals just need to QUIT bitchin' and actually come up with an idea BESIDES raising taxes. :freak:

Jefferson was a liberal; he wanted to redistribute the power so that those who were not presently empowered (colonists) would be able to have more control over their affairs. Neither conservatism nor liberalism is inherently bad. It's the application that makes all the difference.

How can you call Ahnold a backlash against liberals? Have you noticed that he's more socially progressive than a lot of Democrats? The Republicans let him run for three reasons- 1. He promised not to raise taxes, 2. He wasn't Gray Davis, and 3. They couldn't stop him if they wanted to. But the fact is that... Schwarzenegger approves of gun control Schwarzenegger is pro-choice Schwarzenegger supports gay rights all touchstone progressive social issues. I would be able to support him myself if he was committed to a balanced budget. But that's become the cause of the Democratic party, while the Republicans are happy to run a credit-card economy. Personally I feel that the hate is coming from a fundamentalist president on a religious crusade. Listen to conservative radio in the morning; it's practically dripping with hate. "AIDS kills fags dead, God hates fags, My god is stronger than his God..." All these are right-wing quotes, and they are part of a long tradition of social conservative evils extending back to Jim Crow laws, prohibition, and sex discrimination. If conservatives had been successful at every point in history, women would live to raise children and care for the home without voting rights, blacks would still be slaves, and an illiterate and an impoverished lower class would toil for peanuts under the brutal fist of WASP tycoons.

One more thing: blaming France for the quagmire we're in is ridiculous. We dug our own hole, in spite of being warned against doing so by the rest of the world. If we had listened to France, we'd have $160,000,000,000 more to help lower our national debt. We could even spend it to actually find Bin Laden, which seems to be a task beyond the abilities of our current leadership. Instead, we face a guerilla war, a bombed-out nation to reconstruct with our own tax money, and a wave of anti-American sentiment that spans the globe in our hour of need. Meanwhile, we've failed to keep our eye on the real danger, which has always been terrorism and has never been Iraq's fictional WOMD. Bush has managed to simultaneously isolate America, allow Al Qaeda to escape, and run our economy to the ground. The job market is the worst it's been since the Great Depression.

Heh-heh, speaking of our clueless Prez, have you read the flack over the "Mission Accomplished" sign that he had made for his aircraft carrier PR spot?

Can I assume we are allowed to have political threads again? If not I will take back what I said about Bush. Well, maybe I will just not post any more views about how the public seems to have no input on foreigh affairs. I do hope that everyone that did not vote in the last election will vote in the next election. Robert
To notify the nation that whom ever is president is incompetent and evil?
Its to find the TRUTH. So, if you watch all the stations, you might be lucky and get half the real story. Watch: C-Span weather channel, yes I said the weather channel.

IMHO, hating France just because they didnt support the war is wrong, calling them enemies is disturbing. Mexico did not support the war, El Salvador did Mexico did not get a migration(sp?) agreement, El Salvador got one. I dont "hate America" i simply do not understand it. Saludos

Does anyone ever actually say "quagmire" outside of a political context? There are some other buzz words too, but I can't think of them at the moment. Quagmire is a good one though. This thread is becoming a quagmire! I don't see how ANY of this banter is going to get me into the sack with Ann Culter! Please, people! Let's keep our focus here!
