Strategery
Hi everyone, I just wanted to show off my new custom order pick guard I got today from Greasy Groove! Pics below. But first I just want to give a HUGE word of thanks to Greasy Groove in making gigantic effort in getting the job right. The original artwork, coat of arms of a village I lived in Germany, was small and grainy. A great guy on another forum was kind enough to spiff it up and enlarge it for me for my order with Greasy Groove. I emailed the image and made the order. The color was all wrong and we couldn't figure out what the problem was. Greasy Groove immediately made me another one but it also did not match the color of my guitar. I emailed them and told them "thanks, but I'll take my losses and no hard feelings." THEY REFUSED...and simply said NO...WE WANT TO MAKE IT RIGHT! Guys, I'm 53 and this is the sign of a QUALITY company! To make a long story short...I got the new one in today and it matches perfectly! Due to lack of time today, I slid the pick guard up under the strings to get a look at it. I think it matches great! Thank you Greasy Groove for making the job right!! Scott Fraser
While I'm not a fan of graphics on my guitars I have to say those guys did a great job on the pickguard. And I'm really impressed with how they did right by you. Gotta love that kind of customer care. Scott Fraser

Strategery
Thanks guys and a special thanks to "A String" who enabled me to get this fine pickguard in the first place. A String did the art work for me from a piece of crap, grainy pic from online. The "Coat of Arms" is from the village of "Cochem" in Germany. I lived there for 3 years from 1980-83. Talking about a great place, wonderful times and great friends there...still to this day. Scott Fraser
http://i1.trekearth.com/photos/94883/cochem.jpg Man, that's beautiful. I spend a lot of time in Germany on tour, but I've never seen Cochem. Whereabouts is it? Reminds me a lot of Passau, where the rivers meet, but smaller & quainter. Bottom End
Nice pickguard, I may have to contact that company for some custom work I'd like done, too. Thanks for the tip. I've been up and done the Rhine, but I don't think I've been to Cochem. I was stationed in Germany for 13 years, I loved it, and I hope to go back next year. Dannyalcatraz
I used to live in Stuttgart...but if I got a custom pickguard, people would probably think I'm a Porsche nut. (Well, I am, sort of, but that doesn't matter.) I'd also need to have a guitar with a pickguard... Hmmmm...this could be JUST the excuse I'm looking for! Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Strategery
Thank you for the kind words everyone. The pick guard of course..looks even better in person. Ok, here's the link for Greasy Groove and yes, they are in Nova Scotia. http://www.greasygroove.com/ They have a Facebook page as well and I gave them a shout out there as well. Hey, you guys that were in Germany...you won't find Cochem on the Rhein River...because it's on the Mosel. It's right in the middle between Koblenz and Trier. Beautiful little place that has world class wine and Bitburger bier of course!! If you want to go one of the best little places on earth and THE BEST wine festival...then you'll want to go to Cochem at the last week in August/first week in September. It rocks..plain and simple! http://www.cochem-tourist.de/starten.htm Thanks again everyone and if you wind up getting a pickguard from Greasy Groove, please share a pic or two with us. It's right in the middle between Koblenz and Trier. Beautiful little place that has world class wine and Bitburger bier of course!! Of course Bitburger can be found everywhere in Germany. There are a couple bottles of it in my fridge right now. Myself, I've become a very big fan of Hefeweisen, more of a southern specialty. If you want to go one of the best little places on earth and THE BEST wine festival...then you'll want to go to Cochem at the last week in August/first week in September. We played the Rheingau Musik Festival some years back. Absolutely incredible foods, wines, people, countryside, etc. That IS on the Rhein & is a major commingling & collaboration between winemakers & musicians. Very different kind of landscape than Cochem. Scott Fraser
Strategery
Yes, the whole area is nice. The vineyard regions kind of remind me of the south here in America. Good, hard working, friendly people that like to have a good time. For now, I have to get my Bitburger Bier in South Carolina. Got a case this weekend in the fridge. Bitte ein Bit!! Bottom End
Yes, alot of the southern Shenandoah Valley reminds me of Germany, also. Germany in the summer has chock-full of music festivals big and small. I miss it. I miss the beer, too. Thankfully, microbrews in America have made big steps towards making real beer. Randy Do you have Trader Joe's markets in Georgia? They have expanded from California throughout most of the West, as well as into East coast & New England, might possibly be getting to the South. Anyway, they carry Bitburger, as well as a variety of other European beers. Good wine selection too. Check TJ's out if you see one.
