This little beauty arrived Friday, my wife and I call her "Goldie". California single cut with jumbo SS frets, plays and sounds as good as it looks. One purchase I'll never regret!! Hats off to Carvin for awesome piece of wood. It's mahogany capped with maple, ebony plank, absolutely stunning in person.

Ahhh, that's how that works. I can play this guitar unplugged and it sounds great, absolute dream. Makes me want to quit my job and join a band!!

Carvin makes some great stuff. I don't own any Carvins (yet!), but I've stopped in their Santa Ana store a few times when I'm out in CA and played a few guitars and basses. They have a few items that are on my wishlist. Someday...

Here's a couple more pics since I figured out how to post them. One thing i've found hanging out at the Carvin forums is that some folks go hog wild with color combo's, but that's their gig. I've always heard good things about their "bolt" which is a Strat clone and very affordable, but some of their other guit's are kind of odd shaped to my eyes. Let's face it, you gotcher LP, Strat and Tele shapes, anything else is anybody's guess.

Purtee! Nice pics. Love the "natural binding" around the top a la PRS.

Could ya give us some examples? Pics or links, even?

Sir yes sir, the maple cap does give it a binding look. The top o' the line single cut is about $300 more for the super-premo maple top and then there's a solid mahogany version a bit cheaper. The guys on the Carvin forum told me the maple cap gives it a bit brighter sound not to mention the added edging look. I had a sound in my head I was after and this axe is it! It just plays so nice it blows my mind. My main axe up until now is an American Series deluxe Strat which I have to admit is almost as nice as the Carvin. Glad that I have a good quality single coil guitar as well as 'bucker equipped. Life is good! I'd rather not post any links to anything from Carvin land as it might offend someone and they've been very helpful, just like you folks on this forum. Go to Carvin.com and in the forum section is a photo gallery, dig around there and you'll find some pretty (in my mind) wild stuff as well as some freking gorgeous guitars. There's a guy named Rob who has 60+ Carvins (so far!!). Talk about GAS!! Thanks for your comments everyone.

I bought my first Carvin earlier this year - a C980T12 acoustic. While it's imported, it is an absolutely wonderful guitar for the $. I really can't say enough good about it. My only gripe is that it's almost too easy to play. I'm used to a 12-string acoustic "fighting back" a bit and this thing is like playing butter. I bought some slightly heavier strings to beef it up some.

My next guitar will likely be a Carvin SH575: 2guitars-sh575-1.jpg

I've played a couple of them while in CA and am completely hooked. The natural tone is just wonderful and it plays like a Carvin.

Paul I too have a Carvin acoustic, the 250 I think? $400 guitar and yes it plays like butter! I thought about the 575 also but wnated a LP style and stuck with the Cali single cut, no regrets. Maybe my next Carvin...uh-oh!

Been to the Carvin store a few times buying my PA and as a loyal Strat cat I refuse to pick up a Carvin and play it as I know I'll be out a couple of grand before leaving the store...they are flat beautiful and I was lucky enough to hear a real pro play his new baby for the first time plugged into a strange amp...and wowie zowie those babies can blow the doors off of any other brands in the right hands...that's all I can say...
Take care, Larryz
