Hanny
I just bought a used motif classic, and can spend 12 percent of the purchase price on a warranty for a year. I've owned 3 different boards the past 5 years and none of them ever broke down. I'm curious as to how frequently breakdowns occur--be interested in how many of you have had problems with your boards that required a trip to the manufacturer or someone else? I don't want to spend this money on a warranty if I don't have to; I could use it to get my broken leslie 2101 fixed. Thanks for your wisdom. Hanny. C.J. Lewis
I would say that warranties are often never used, but when they're needed, they're REALLY needed. Also, if you're buying a used piece, and you have a 14-30 day period to check it out / return it (from a store, obviously, or they wouldn't be offering a warranty) - I'd use that. If something's going to go wrong in an electronic unit, try to push it a little harder than you normally would out of the gate - you could be saving yourself heartache in the long run. Song80s
the only extended warranty I would buy is for an Apple computer. And I am a mac person. Many of us keep our machines for 3-4 years and rely on them heavily Why fit in, when you were born to stand out ? MikeT156
I never bought an extended warranty on any of my instruments, but I always bought them new. I've had excellent reliability with all my Yamaha equipment. I'd say buy an extended warranty if its reasonably priced, used, and if its from a questionable mfg, otherwise, it might be worth a gamble not to get an extended warranty slide. Mike T. Synthoid
Keep in mind that the price of extended warranties is always negotiable. It's a high-profit item for stores. When an eel hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's a Moray.
