'Curating ' prior original material is common, esp when the artist has a large portfolio of recorded material. UK artists such as Steven Wilson and others discuss this. I have 100 originals and occasionally re-listen to my songs from a few years ago. Its natural to make some changes, improvements, etc. as I hear the music differently from way back. Plus todays tools are awesome and expand the palette.

Where do you see blowout prices on a Kronos? I don"t. And there are plenty of digital synthesis methods that could be added to a Kronos successor. The FM engine could be enhanced. Additive synthesis/resynthesis. Seamless integration with iOS softsynths and VST synth programs. The synth world didn"t come to a standstill when the Kronos first came out. i think Elm is referring to good prices of the original K1 on reverb/ebay. Even the short lived "X' model , used of course , can be had. Buying used Kronos can be risky . Some owners confuse the filing system and hodge podge the data. Then there are the DIY types that experiment with internal components. IOW, I think some one elses keyboard headache should be identified.

Many users hardly use the full range of Kronos features, fewer users program sounds from scratch and most primarily use it to play presets. Il: Its easy and reasonable to get beyond the Korg factory sounds/programs. Many of the long time productive Kronos owners, enjoy the many high quality 3rd party sample libs. The 3rd parties do a masterful job filling in the various niches/expanding the Kronos palette. Thats a huge plus for Kronos. Eventually some will produce/create for Nautilus but thats a wait and see.

I agree with asking the " right questions ". To go further , lets define the younger players. Lets say the biggest demographic of buyers is in the 20 - 49 age group. No tomatoes, please. These MI corporations are focused on demographics. They are going to produce and market to the 20-49ers. My guess is the 20-49ers don't have the legacy loyalty to Korg based on the 01/w, Triton , etc. I understand or am aware of the 55-70 demographic "Korg Camp " legacy loyalty. As I was a Triton owner and had all the w/s models thru Kronos.

QFT. The differentiators of a pro-level keyboard are in areas like on-board controllers, organ model/drawbars, hands-on sound sculpting capability, and MIDI features. Kronos excelled in many of these area. Cheers, Mike I don't disagree. 10 year Kronos owner here. But if it was strictly all about that, the on board controls, etc, why are we discussing the winds of change, and the whispered End of Production for Kronos ? I know keyboard players are attracted to the tactile. Doesn't Nautilus have less on board controls, that are now 'virtual ' ?

how about not at all ? Korg is a far different co in 2021 vs Korg Inc of 2010 . Kronos/Oasys was the vision of a Korg w/s inspired by the great Mr Katoh. History does not always repeat for one. Secondly, consider the ongoing chip and component shortage. Its has to be a hassle to create an assemble high priced keyboard dependent on 3rd party components. And consider making vital components like a dedicated Intel motherboard available for warranty when that product also has an EOL factor. Third, great sounds are the standard for any new keyboard under $2000. One does not have to spend $4000. $2000 will buy great features and great sounds such as MODX and the Kurzweil models. And roll your own with $29 MainStage as a start ? Not that difficult to organize a great keyboard at reasonable cost. I know some are perfectly ok spending $3500-$4000, have their own rationale. My contention is that the $3500-$4000 niche has narrowed. Keep in mind for a Korg or any of these co's its about their bottom line. Plus the spin off and annual iteration of the $4000 board is no sure thing, either.

Kronos has a decent tremolo guitar. I used it on my last original.

I don't go by perceived 'learning limits" on a full featured expensive keyboard. And I think long term, not short on the expensive full featured keyboard. 1 year is a very short time IMO 5 years is my basic requirement. for example, I have 10 years on my Kronos.

There is nothing currently ' wrong ' with the MODX 8 key bed. There may have been some 1st release problems over 2 yrs ago. But whatever, Yamaha solved it quickly Some folks here will say they don't care for the MODX 8 key bed feel- but thats entirely subjective

You bought it factory new ? Not nick-picky, don't wait, get it fixed by Korg auth service ASAP. Use the warranty. Go to Korg web site for nearby auth locations . Your retailer has the location info, too. Then call for the service center turn around. All they can do is estimate on the phone.

While I understand the sentiment, I will always encourage musicians to seek out others who are competent (technically and personality) in their skill position. Technology enables us to accomplish a lot by ourselves. It's harder to appreciate a real musician/instrumentalist until finding and playing with those who have "it" in spades. Keep in mind I don't gig or do cover material. I saved years of time rolling my own drum beats. And I still had input from a drummer friend in Chicago. I am in CA. logistics and distance are a big factor in finding good music partners. And here we are in year 2 of Covid. My production didn't miss a beat or lack. I think its better to control your own material.

I don't need a drummer and all their quirks, etc etc You can do a lot with the soft and hardware versions and have convincing results. Thats my experience.

absolutely. Stereo audio in a big deal feature. Been using it on my Kronos for 10 yrs. Have been " mixer less " for 10 yrs. When I bought my MODX 8 last Oct and saw the on board dials for audio ins, it was ohhh yes, I like. I route my Kronos to the MODX audio ins. Very nice.

drums/bass is the foundation of all my originals. Plus I am serious about recording the percussion and bass guitar. I find the drum patterns and kits in Kronos to be persuasive for recording. I also review my approach, for each song, with a drummer friend . He likes the result in my recording. Your Nautilus , while I don't know it, should give you a start. There are drum software options, all kinds, many sound authentic and are not overly ' electronic '. I get it, real drums will sound better. Eventually. But to have access to various kits, access to good variety and to use them with your own approach will provide a good result. From my experience.

my 99% guess is Nautilus has a fan. It relies on computer components, processor, etc. Requires stable temps . Possibly the Korg page specs some of the internals

you will need to use the FEDX box. Over the case, keyboard box etc buying using the FEDX shipping carton is an important step for insurance

True, artists have that creative control. But they don't have much control in the digital media. There is tonnage content, saturation. Assorted obstacles to establishing a presence that produces return. The digital media venues are setting the terms and have established control and working their distribution. I see this continuing, this year and next. As far as 2023, I don't know of anyone who can accurately predict this far out.
