Caevan O’Shite
Go back 'n' check, I think you'll find plenty there that's on-topic, yet NOT on-topic, with respect to the topic-title... Seriously, there are guitar-centric posts there, too, as well as those kids horsing around in the hall... Gifthorse
I like them both. I like the tele maybe a hair more. But want a double coil in the bridge with a splitter. http://flagshipmile.dmusic.com/ http://www.myspace.com/gifthorse

Bluesape
Got both - tend to play Strats more, but ogle Teles and ASATs more in stores these days. Got all the Strat variants I need - for now! Never a DUH! moment! Well, almost never. OK, OK! Sometimes never!
otherstar
I've got both, sort of. I have a Squier "fat" Tele with a humbucker in the neck position that I'm rather fond of. Hell, I like all of my guitars...my favorite is always what I'm playing at the time. Turn me over, I'm done on this side...

02R96
I've got my eye on a "Daphne Blue Rosewood Highway One Telecaster". So let's say Fender heard about your fantastic playing and wanted to sponser your world tour (of seedy clubs and local dives), but they will only give you ONE guitar. Which would it be??? A String
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! YOU DON'T WANT A ALUMINUM STRAT!!!! BAD CRAIG...BAD!!! Actually I do. I'd also like to try a plexi-glass Strat. But Keith's Strat looks identical to mine, except mine shows years of road wear and has a floating (but locked down) bridge. Darcy H
When I bought my first electric, I really didn't have a clue what I should be listening for, so I decided to go with what my favourite guitarists played...Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Hendrix, etc... all wielding Strats. I've played and owned numerous Strats and quite liked them, untill I played a Tele. I never really liked the "look" of Teles, definitely some country icons come to mind, which isn't my cup of tea, but the tone just floored me. Maybe I only played poor Strats and I have an exceptional Tele, but everytime I pick up one of my Strats it doesn't last long before I'm reaching for my 52RI. Definitely a Tele guy now. www.myspace.com/darcyhoover

Caevan O’Shite
Y'know, somebody needs to "photo-shop" a tiny Tele, seen sideways, in the teeth of Mr. Savalas in that thar photo, in lieu of the lolly-pop... Lucky for you to have such a great attitude for most people's favorite is the one they don't have yet! Definitely true. Thanks, but I do have 11 guitars...so don't think I'm that noble. I usually get new ones by just being in a music store, picking a guitar up and falling in love with it on the spot. I don't usually go out looking for a specific guitar. I might go looking for "a guitar" without knowing what exactly I might get, but I rarely shop for specific guitars. I've only gotten three guitars when I was looking for something specific and wound up either getting it in a store or online just because it was something I wanted and/or I got a good deal. Turn me over, I'm done on this side...
The Big G
well i suffered this dilema late last year, looking for a strat and have been for a while and ending up buying a new tele, just felt better, and the tone from the guitar was great. (tried a good few teles and this was the best sounding one, got it set up properly and she is a dream, so Tele wins again. but i still want a strat G Love life, some twists and turns are more painful than others, but love life..... http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=592101
