Hey Myles, We've had a conversation about Celestion speakers....specifically we're comparing the New Celestion G12EVH (Eddie Van Halen signature speaker) and the Heritage series G12M; http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Celestion-Eddie-Van-Halen-G12EVH-Replacement-Speaker?sku=660101 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Celestion-G12M-Heritage-Guitar-Speaker?sku=660258 In looking at the specs, the only difference I can see (aside from that goovey label ) is that the resonance frequency of the EVH is 75 hz, while it is 86.9 hz for the G12M Heritage. Can you tell us what this means, and what difference it might make?? Or, are these essentially equivalent speakers?

Ask Celestion or somebody like AES (www.tubesandmore.com) One may be a real British made one and other made in their Chinese factory. I think you hit the nail on the head, Myles. The Heritage series are made in England. I THINK it may even be in the original factory in Ipswich??? Hi Myles, Can you clear up a question for me? I'm looking to find out what wattage output a Fender "Pro Amp" is rated at. Specifically, I'm interested in the brownface model 6G5, and model 6G5-A, and the blackface model AA763. The Vintage Guitar Price Guide, as well as the Blue Book of Amplifiers, and the "Fender Amps; The First Fifty Years" book indicate that they are 25 watt amps. However the Fender Amp Field Guide says that the brownface Pro Amp is 40 watts. http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/ Who's correct??

I e mailed my tattoo'ed bud who lacks a spell checker (LOL), and asked if in fact that tattoo was his. He sent me back a youtube video!! He did not say anything about the tattoo!! I'll get to the bottom of this, one way or another....... More later...........

Passing out while getting a tattoo actually is not related to the bleeding. You'd have bleed much more than that in order to pass out from loss of blood. The cause of the "passing out" when getting a tattoo, is called a "vasovagal response". It's commonly called fainting. The bigger and tougher the guy, the more likely they are to faint. Big tough guys have an increased vagal tone, and when they experience the intense "fight or flight" response (i.e. they get SCARED), the autonomic nervous system kicks in, and you begin to see "cold clammy sweat" and your heart rate decreases. Your blood vessels loose their tone, and your blood pressure goes down. This is what makes you pass out. Not eating, and being low on fluids, actually does make fainting more likely. Also, men are often more prone to fainting than women. The old saying "the bigger they are, the harder they fall" is very accurate.

Yea, I'd say!!! I've not seen this tattoo in person, only that picture. He told me it was his, but I've had my doubts...... I'm gonna call him on this.... I'll keep you posted!!

When I was in Medical School, this one professor told us that "if a patient had one tattoo, that was fine. If a patient had two tats, you should be concerned. If a patient had three or more tats, there is a psychiatric diagnosis......" Today, it seems that tats are so "in vogue" that I don't think that the Prof's theory still holds water. However, in my experience in the E.R., there may be some merit to it!!! Now, don't go ballistic!!! LOL...remember, by their very presence in the E.R. they have joined the "knife and gun club" (...I did quite a bit of Trauma Surgery...) which means that they are different than your average normal citizen who just happens to like tattoos. By the way, I'll be calling my friend to see if his tattoo artist might be able to fit in another "O"..... LOL

I would say YES! make sure it's has a Gibson logo on the headstock though! you don't wnat to go through life with a imitation guitar tat! go with the best ink that's GIBSON INK! Here's a recent tattoo a good friend got (no tattoo's for me, thank you very much!!). This meets the "ellwood criteria", I'd think!! Hi Myles....I bought the '64 blackface Pro, and love it. It's a very cool old amp, with a lot of character. The 15" speaker seems to give a lot of "touch response"...you can really hear and feel the pick attack. So, it seems to have worked out well. I do have a question. The seller said that the amp would have a Mullard GZ34 rectifier tube, but it actually has a MV GZ34 tube. Will this make any difference in the amp's tone, or function that I should know about?

Good Morning Myles. I wondered if you could help me understanding the difference between the "brownface" Fender Pro combo and the "blackface" Fender Pro? I know the tube configuration is different. I was wondering if you could make some comments about the tone, and the differences in tone between the two. I know tone is very personal, but would still appreciate any comments. Lee (aka ellwood) has a brownface Pro he simply loves, especially using it when he plays with his "blues band". He feels that the relatively low wattage, plus the 15" speaker is the key to a great blues sound. As background, I have a fairly substantial collection of old amps, particularly tweed and blackface Fender combos. But, I do NOT have any combo with a 15" speaker. Also, I rarely play out, so I really just looking for a unique tone to add to my studio arsenal.

Hi Myles, I've developed an interest in possibly building a "kit amp". I'd like to start with something small, like a champ. My son's headed to college next year, and I'd like to build it with him, and give it to him to take to school. So, a champ like amp would allow him to use it in a dorm or apartment. I've replaced pu's in guitars, and wired guitars that I've built. But, that's about the extent of my electronics knowledge...pretty limited. I'm hoping this build will help me learn some about amps and tubes, etc.. Who's kit would you recommend?? Thanks for your anticipated help!!
