Rocky McDougall
I have all the commitments music but have never seen the movie. Is it worth watching? I'm thinking of ordering it. But having a hard time making up my mind. Rocky "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb, voting on what to eat for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb, contesting the vote." Joe Bloe
I enjoyed the movie. It was many years ago, but it was fun and I would recommend it. Of course, I also like Waynes World and Dumb & Dumber... Bass, the final frontier... http://www.myspace.com/johnnyandtheboomers
jeremy c
Yes, get it. I don't think you will feel ripped off for the $3 or so it costs to rent. I'd mail you my VHS tape but mailing would cost more than renting. Free download of my cd!.
Bottomgottem
It's a good movie. Well worth the rental fee. My whole trick is to keep the tune well out in front. Kramer Ferrington III.
It's not a bad movie, especially the first time you see it. The second time I saw it, a couple of weeks ago, I thought it lays the Oirish thing on a bit thick, but maybe I was just in a bad mood when I saw it. Definitely a fun film worth watching with very lovingly drawn characters and situations. Oh, and the soundtrack's not bad either! Steve Force
It is a fun movie with more than a grain of truth when it comes to band creation, interaction, and meltdown. And as mentioned, the soundtrack isn't bad either.. Steve Force, Durham, North Carolina -------- My Professional Websites

The Bear Jew
Do yourself a favor and read the book if you can find it. I found the movie to be quite nice and all that, but the book really develops the characters and storyline in a more realistic way. \m/ Erik "To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting." --Sun Tzu
moot
A great movie that should be required watching for anyone even thinking of joining a band. I found the movie to be quite nice and all that, but the book really develops the characters and storyline in a more realistic way. I've been meaning to do this. I'll start seeing if my library has it. Of course, it's got nothing on the book I'm still waiting for YOU to write. TimR
Roddy Doyle? He won a Booker prize. I didn't know he had written it. Explains why the movie is so good I expect. I'll read the book then. Seamy ALB
The Commitments is actually part of a series of books called the Barrytown Trilogy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Barrytown_Trilogy It is a very good synopsis of working class Dublin and you will laugh so hard it will hurt, I did anyway. http://www.facebook.com/pages/A-Little-Bitter/185235472447
