Derrick1642607670
Ok, So I've just ordered the first and maybe last wave of parts to go into my squier strat i've decided to fix up since theres no way im coughing up 1000ish dollars for a strat I like stock when this one feels great. The pickups are very lifeless but at least theyre quiet I'll be replacing those with some GFS Texas style pickups and i'll be replacing the electronics as well since theyre hanging onto life by a thin thread (pots, switch, output, caps). I hope this is all worth it http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-50206111187217_1969_11474065.gif http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-50206111187217_1969_2668583.gif http://www.myhrbraaten.no/images/strat%20aff%20black.jpg And im considering going tortoise http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-50206111187217_1968_13832391.gif

A String
Yeah man I wish I could but I dont have any sort of recording devices unfortunetly, thats most likely the next cash in, lol A 1/4" to 1/8" adaptor or cable from your local dollar store will do the trick for now. As long as you have a sound card in your computer, you can use one of the free, multi-tracking programs, plug in your guitar and record away. stamplicker
As Astring said, very cheap and easy to give off that raw sound =) nothing elaborate/fancy just to see how it sounds now.. and then once changed we can hear the difference. =) MagicStomp Soundbites Soundclick Rambles Haunted Art
Caevan O’Shite
Yeah, that'd be cool, hearing the 'before and after'. What color is your Squire Strat? Is it the same as that one pic there in your first post? I can't quite tell if it's supposed to be black or a dark green. If it's black, that fake tortoise-shell pickguard would look cool on it; if dark green, even better! For some reason, that color of 'guard always makes me think of Donald "Duck" Dunn and "The Colonel" Steve Cropper! Hmmn... smoke a briarwood on-stage? caprae
Has anyone tried any of the Xavier guitars on that site? Especially the "hand built" ones? Wonder how they stack up to the Agile line. http://store.guitarfetish.com/xvandxvgu.html Raise your children and spoil your grandchildren. Spoil your children and raise your grandchildren. Wolfgangsta
I have a black Squier Strat and I put a black pearloid pickguard on it and it looks pretty cool. I considered the tortoise shell as I think it would have looked just as good. As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!

mdrs
If it's a black Strat, you could make it look like this MIM Strat I did some work on; http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/mdrs1/CIMG0835.jpg http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/mdrs1/CIMG0838.jpg Also, have you looked at other pickups, such as Lindy Fralins?? The Geoff
NICE ONES there Geoff!! those are sweethearts!! I've gone thru' this before, but.... The Strat has DiMarzio SDS-1s (really Strat-shaped P90s@8.6K) in bridge & middle and a TDS-1 (originally a replacement for Tele neck at 6.8K). That neck pup is really sweet. I wish I could find another. The Vol is push/pull & brings in all 3 pups, or the two outsiders depending on the selector position. The middle knob is really a VariTone switch as in Gibson 345. The bottom knob is a 5 stage pre-amp with variable mid-response: 1 - unity - pickups unchanged & works when battery fails 2 - mid cut (post CBS) 3 - hi-mids boost (pre-CBS) 4 - lo-mids boost (Texas Specials) 5 - everything boost (more like a humbucker) Neck hand made in Belfast. Trem very heavy all brass including block. It's *very* versatile axe. The Squier Tele has a Fender 52 Re-Issue in the bridge and a GFS Big Boy in the neck - and that's another very sweet pup. I use the Tele more. G.
