If it is an Epi that he (or whoever) tried to alter, I'd watch him CAREFULLY!!! After briefly looking at pics on his web site, his stuff looks decent. So, I think he knows what he's doing.

He should come TOTALLY CLEAN with you. He knows, or has a good idea of what's going on with that camo axe. Even if he doesn't know exactly what's gone on with it, he should have suspecions himself, and should share them with you.

Having said that, if it IS an Epi that's been altered to decieve, it might give you a bit of an opportunity. If you like the axe, you could easily either get the pu's working, or replace the electronics, and end up with a decent axe.

Maybe you could "shame" him into a lower price, and end up with a good deal on a project axe that might end up being pretty good??

I looked at the pics on that guy's web site a bit more closely. Some of the stuff looks kind of sloppy....more of a hobbiest level than a master luthier.

don't take my word for the EPI possibilty. i am theorizing and there are not enough pics for me to be sure.

but for the price i wonder.

as for the mind in the gutter, i was thinking the same thing Don.

i was breast fed as a baby and have never gotten over being cut off.

scam, My wife felt the need to go for something like this ( against my wish) and although you do get to keep what you buy it's very hard to get reimbursed the money you spent.

You are talking about the mystery shoppers thing that comes up right?

Damn, What the hell was I talking about :freak:

What can this strange device be?

When I touch it, it gives forth a sound

It's got wires that vibrate, and give music

What can this thing be that I found?

What do you guys think?

For six ro seven years, my buddy Fred was Zakk's guitar tech. I asked him tonight, and he said that it is definitely a fake, he's seen a bunch of them, and that they tend to play well and sound good. He says that they typically sell for about $400, and that they are not usually conversions, just counterfits from a Pacific rim factory.

I didn't see the guitar (and the links seem to be gone) but what doc told you is great advice. If you see a Gibson or related product (Epi, etc.) you think is a fake or altered and being sold as something else call 1-800-4GIBSON and speak to any one of the customer support reps about it. They can usually help you discern the fakes and frauds, and they're keenly interested in protecting Gibson's brand and reputation, so they like to know about these questionable items being labeled as genuine Gibson products.

It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman
