Hound Dog
I am planning to get a THD univalve and I need a cabinet to go with it. The Carvin C212E for $349 seems like a good match and a great price. It has Celestion Vintage 30 speakers! The metal grille should keep the kids from kicking the speakers in. What do you think? Yum, Yum! Eat em up!
The Geoff
Take the speakers out & put the kids behind the grill!!!! http://www.websmileys.com/sm/happy/1404.gif Seriously, the setup sounds like a go-er. Dr. Ellwood
Sounds good! I wonder how it will compare with the matching cab from THD that Bill uses? I put that diamond shaped distressed metal mesh in our 2X12 W/horn floor monitors and it was the best thing I could have done, they used to take a real beating sometimes. I had to work with them for awhile to get the rattles out of them but it works great!!! http://www.thestringnetwork.com

BillWelcome Home Studios
You might also consider the Avatar cab, which, last time I checked, was less than the Carvin and was getting great reviews as the inexpensive cab to go with the UniValve. I almost bought one, till I figure, in for a penny, in for a pound. I have no regrets having bought the cab to match the amp, as I suspect that THD has done the best that they could in building a cabinet to show off what the amp can do. But every once in a while I wonder if I could/should have saved a few bucks. Hound Dog
Hey Bill: Thanks for the heads up on the Avatars. I like the look of those! I had always thought that it would be nice to have a 2-12 loaded with two different speakers (as long as the combination is pleasing) so that you could mic different ones depending on the sound you were after. I may have just found my cab. I see that they have a package deal on the THD amps. Now I'm probably just complicating my life more: Speaker selection, tolex color, grille color, open or closed back. Decisions, descisions... Yum, Yum! Eat em up!
mdrs
Hey H Dog...I've played my Univalve thru a Rivera 4x10, and a Marshall 4x12 TV cab. The Univalve loves both!! I think that head would sound good played thru anything! Are you buying the Univalve new? Also, please let us know what you decided on, and how it sounds when you get it.
