A.I and human can collaborate.  I do not think we will be replaced.  It is a big world and we all need to work together.

A group of us EMO owners put on a contest.  I collaborated with mine and this is what we came up with.

    "EMO Vision Contest"

+1 on that, personally I have always loved Drummer in Garageband on iPad (now I have Logic on iPad too) and used it a lot for compositions and practice etc. And I can imagine for anyone with lack of chops on keys and bass the new AI players will be very useful, I probably will use the bass player when I am too lazy to do it myself, for a demo or a practice track..

I would be surprised if AI workflows will not be standard in all music software within the next years, and I definitely look forward to find out how creative the software creators will be in terms of how they will use the technology to give us new interesting tools for inspiring us in our creative endavours!

  2. Now we got Logic on the iPad, only waiting for Mainstage so all virtual instrument manufacturers will get a real incentive to open up their products for the iOS platform finally! They already have AU on ARM, and it's not rocket science to add iOS in XCode, so should be a breeze unless they're using a bunch of other 3rd party libraries too that are not available for iOS.

  3. I have one of these, the 2408, since a couple of years, but never really used the AUXes, do you guys have any idea how AUX 3 and 4 are dealt with on the stereo channels? Can the "musician mix" outputs be used for actually sending stereo signal from a stereo channel on either of AUX 3 or 4, using a TRS cable, and by this actually being able to feed a stereo effect with actual stereo signal?

I could try this of course, but after reading this review I figured I'd throw this out to start with!

Bingo.  Any sound when approached non-idiomatically opens other avenues in composition, performance and music production.

Sample libraries exist enabling composers and musicians to mock up scores and/or cover tunes using some semblance of the real sound.

Otherwise, there's good reason for musicians to use sampled sounds in a creative manner similar to synthesis.

The orchestra hit is an example of a sound that got a lot of mileage before it became maligned.😁

Nowadays, similar to brass pads, prepared piano type sounds has become a thing in Pop music composition and production. 😎

Like when Synth Brass became it's own "instrument", makes me think about this tune. Back in the days I used a preset sound on D50 for this brass riff, though the song was released in 1985 and D50 released in 1987, so that was not what was used here originally, I also used a D50 electric piano/organish preset sound for the bridge.. haha!

Thanks for the point.  I bought it anyway. It was less than 60 bucks. I've wasted way more than that on other promising looking products.  It's still downloading (64GB), so I'll get into it later.

Way back in the '80s. I believe the product was either the Korg M1 or maybe one of its successors, such as the 01/W or T series.

I have a vivid memory of an advertisement with a 1-800 number to call, where one could listen to a 2-3 minute demonstration of the synth, with some narration and really great sounds. It was really cool at the time, though I suspect we might not appreciate it as much today. I've done a little bit of Google searching and didn't immediately find it.

I called this number dozens or maybe hundreds of times. I was completely hooked on it! Does anyone remember this? I can probably answer this if I go dig around in my Keyboard Magazines from around later '80s. It was a marketing technique that didn't seem to last very long. There might even be people on the forum that were involved with this. I would love to hear it again!

Oh wow, a youtube predecessor, how progressive! It sounds really cool 😎!!

"It isn’t surprising to see tracks from Back to Black among the singer’s top tracks.

What may be surprising is the amount of streams these tracks have accumulated over the years. On Spotify, all singles from this record have reached 100 million streams, with some of them going as high as 300 million – simply outstanding results for an album released in 2006."

    1. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (1998), Lauryn Hill

    4. Purple Rain (1984), Prince & The Revolution

    5. Blonde (2016), Frank Ocean

    6. Songs in the Key of Life (1976), Stevie Wonder

    7. good kid, m.A.A.d city (2012), Kendrick Lamar

    8. Back to Black (2006), Amy Winehouse

    9. Nevermind (1991), Nirvana

    10. Lemonade (2016), Beyoncé

I must be missing something enormous here but I've never heard about Lauryn Hill before, and apparently it's not a new album since it's from 1998 and I was born in 1979. I just started listening to it and I couldn't, it sounds like complete crap to my ears!

Can someone explain to me what dafuq is going on here?! Is that something US people know well and love? Do you consider that album the GOAT? 🤔

FWIW, I haven't heard of Kendrick Lamar or Frank Ocean either. And not sure if I'm somehow biased, out of my mind or just missing a huge part of our world but for the life of me I can't understand how Pink Floyd might not be in Top 10, whereas Amy Winehouse is 🤦🏻‍♂️

I know it's not very interesting, but, I got new keyboard stands!

I set up in an L configuration on bigger gigs, with a Rhodes facing front, and a 2-tier stand on my right with a Crumar Mojo and a Sequential Take 5. I don't use the legs on the Rhodes, I've found it way faster to use a a stand and just set the Rhodes on top. I had been using an older Z-stand for the Rhodes, and a K&M 18880 for the Crumar/Take 5. The Z-stand is fine, except it needs to be disassembled to move. The K&M broke recently on a gig, due to my own stupidity, clumsiness, and pure pissed-offedness, after a gig for which we ended up not getting paid, I was tearing down while mad and in a rush, and over-tweaked one of the bolts. Anyway...

I viewed this as an excuse to upgrade my stand game. I got this for the Rhodes, a Gator Frameworks WS250:

This stand is perfect for the Rhodes, it folds down to a small footprint, is really strong, and easy to setup.

And this for the 2-tier, a K&M Omega:

I have to admit, the price of the Omega kinda hurt, but, I gotta say, this is one of the nicest stands I've ever used. I like that you can set up the 2nd tier at any width, and it doesn't have to be centered on the lower keyboard, the Take 5 is considerably narrower than the Crumar, and I like to have it offset to the right, I had to put it on a shelf with the 18880, with this, I can put the right upper tier at the far right, and the a little off of center, and it works great.

So far, I'm really happy with both stands.

    Here they are in use:

I bought the Omega recently, with the stackers as well, though not the version with the folding legs but I assume they're very similar for the rest, VERY big and sturdy construction. I was seriously surprised about how industrial strenght and BIG it is, my Prologue and Opsix looks like toys on it.. hehe!
