My cable storage solution.
George Toledo replied to RABid's topic in Craig Anderton's Sound, Studio, and Stage
I do similar to this, but I also have plenty of the larger Hefty Jumbo bags for larger coils. Also use the Hefty Jumbo bags as covers for larger mics that are left on the stand. They fit right over shockmounts and all. -
It’s pedantic, but it occurs to me that the question isn’t the dynamic range of the vinyl itself, but the dynamic range of the chain. Surface noise and any resulting harmonic distortion might increase the actual dynamic range of the signal being captured. Enough to need more than 16 bits? I think probably not, but it’s something I would keep in mind.

The thing that amazes me about that one, is that there’s the original with the “hobo” lyric. Then you have the version with acoustic that kicks in to high gear, pretty popular, often used in movie placements. But the version in the music video was yet another, third version. Quicker, and I think in different key. I was really fascinated with these different versions and the differences at one point.

I have a Fender like Surfer Girl’s, in darker blue. Really great uke! Also an older Harmony that’s so hard to keep in tune. The high stringing of the fourth string really breaks routines in a way that tickles the brain.

What makes a local/bar band magical?
George Toledo replied to RABid's topic in Craig Anderton's Sound, Studio, and Stage
Aside from groove, general good musicianship, song choice… The thing that really does it for me is when a cover band has multiple singers and they nail harmonies. It will make me enjoy songs I don’t even usually like. -
Any fans of Focus?
George Toledo replied to Ivan May's topic in Craig Anderton's Sound, Studio, and Stage
Focus is great. A fair amount of listeners in the US became aware of them after Gary Hoey recorded a cover of Hocus Pocus, which had a video that was regularly featured on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball. I know I’m in that bunch. -
Becoming a Huge Fan of Dynamic EQ
George Toledo replied to Anderton's topic in Craig Anderton's Sound, Studio, and Stage
I used to occasionally use a multiband for similar end result, but I find the dynamic EQ to be a little better sounding approach, usually. I haven’t done much with sidechaining it though. I’ll usually use it for de-essing and tightening up low mids. -
Oh, the Irony...

Sounds very cool, and thank you!!! I need to double check how it ended up. Expect to see something come across in the next couple days 🙂 -

The great TV writer Ken Levine has done some fantastic pods about issues with the strike, and the current state of media. I highly recommend browsing his Hollywood and Levine podcast over the last few months. -

What blows my minds is that the execs can’t seem to imagine their job being gobbled up by AI. But what amazes me even more… Can no one running a movie studio imagine a day when you can write a prompt into an app, it generates a full narrative, and generates visual content that fits it? We have parts of this already. Further, it will probably be able to spawn near endless “choose your own adventure” twists. AI can generate stories of a sort. It can generate moving visual content, like the Will Smith eating spaghetti viral vid. It just takes putting this stuff together with more nuance, more sophisticated programming. “Hollywood” and streamers that own IP and are so obsessed with licensing away people’s rights for AI purposes, need to realize that they are actually in the same boat as the writers and actors. Some day, probably sooner than we think, there will be some app or website that can act as a substitute for what they do, en totale.
