Paul McCartney's tribute to Jimmy Buffett was impressive both in its length and content. RIP Jimmy. I hope you found that lost shaker of salt.
A friend of mine is the producer for (what will be) Jimmy’s last record. He was also a player on the new George Strait record we tracked last week. On Tuesday he was telling us how cool it was to “produce “ Paul McCartney’s bass track, then Wednesday he missed the sessions, flying to NY to say goodbye to his friend. Sad.

Don't get me wrong, prominent fiddle parts are fun to play on keys;
Many years ago I did a live showcase for an artist who asked me to cover Mark O’Connor’s fiddle part from the record. I had only a DX7 to do it with. Not good! Weeks later I ran into Mark & told him I had the unenviable chore of trying to cover him on stage, looking for a little sympathy. He looked coldly at me & said “I know. I was there”, shook his head & walked away!

At that age, what matters most (imho) is to find a teacher who will nurture her love of music and not focus on fingering, posture, etc. I say this as someone who began weekly lessons w/a teacher at age 3.

The bottom line is.... installation of Ravenscroft is not for the faint of heart. We went through a
fair amount of hell to even get it to make sound.
I think my point & others was that your experience is not our experience. I had no trouble installing & no intolerable latency. That suggests that your issues are yours, & perhaps do not deserve the all caps slam.
I would recommend Pianoteq to you though. It’s is excellent sound quality, very small tax of resources & (in my experience) easy to install. -
Expected but still sad. I loved his records, especially the interplay between him & Ralph Sharon.

All I can say is I never had any of the problems you’ve described when I was using Ravenscroft. Quite the opposite really. Perhaps the blame belongs elsewhere.

I've got an old Roland M120 line mixer. Still sounds fine, and not too noisy. Needs a couple of new pots. Always lusted after the old Roland M480 (not the digital mixer by the same name!). Those were the days when the great Roland catalogues were an inspiration to go find some gigs to find many many synths to fill up the unaffordable M480!
At home, I've got an X32 Rack which is a bit overkill, for sure - but 22 analog ins and 14 outs, plus the 32x32 digital over USB is so good.
Used the Key Largo a couple of times, and being Radial, it's excellent.I ran through a Roland 480 for years, & loved it. Admittedly, I wouldn’t have used all those inputs if I hadn’t had Cartage to carry my gear 😆

Who makes it for them?

Sounds like just about any bright analog synth pad will do the trick.

There’s no universally-loved action because there is no universal keyboard player.
I played Korg RH3 actions on a couple Kronoses for a decade and found it playable generally, but too heavy for organ. I bought a Fantom last year and looked at the Fantom 8, but the action is SO HEAVY - impossible to do synth stuff on. The Fantom 7 semi-weighted action won’t make pianists happy, but I find it playable for all kinds of sounds and doesn’t shred my hand when playing organ.
Aftertouch usually means the action is spongy on the bottom -e.g. TP-40 as found in some Kurzweils. That’s either a good or bad thing depending on your taste.
We’ll I’m not looking for a single board for all things. I have other controllers. This would be for piano mostly & EPs.

Does anyone know any easy to use VST for trumpet? I want to sound like Chet Baker Just for home use for fun.
The muted trumpet from wavesfactory is nice, & maybe still 1/2 price.

There isn’t any. You can roll the dice and hopefully find something clean and pristine like a Peavey DPM C8 for very little money. Most were studio pieces any due to their weight.
I used Peaveys for years & loved the action at the time, but I didn’t have to lift them. I also had an Elka MKII that was awesome. Now I keep a CME UF80 in one space & use my Casio in the other. All except the Casio are hard to come by, but I’d recommend you get the best action you can & if you need more controllers, add a small second unit. I still keep a cheap M-Audio something or other above the CME, ‘cause sometimes it’s just easier to grab a knob or slider on it.

Do folks here like that action?

Did I miss “modern” or did you edit the thread title? 😃

I’ve played with so many great drummers, it’s hard to relate to your post. In my experience, I find what you describe common among drummers, guitar players, bass & keyboard players in the “Weekend Warriors “ scene of part time musicians, especially amateur Jazz musicians.
