  1. I'm not sure how popular DAW's and softsynths are here, but I'm wondering if anyone has gotten Cubase 12. I updated a few days ago, and am real happy with not having to use the usb licenser with it on my laptop. That alone was worth the update price for me, but there's lots of other nice goodies in there too.
  2. Possibly a little irrational, but after trying the demo and watching a couple videos, I wanted to show respect to Tom and Marcus. They made what I consider to be some of the best synths ever. When I think 'synth', I think 'Oberheim'. Also as a token of gratitude to Dave for GForce. GForce offers some of the best sounding softsynths I've run across. It also doesn't hurt that OB-e sounds magnificent to me.. YMMV
  3. https://www.gforcesoftware.com/products/ob-e/ Available for pc now too. Just picked it up today. Anyone else?
  4. I have more than what I need or even want, but I still plan on getting a new computer and a Kurzweil PC4-7.
  5. If you have an account with them, log in to see additional special offers. I got the FX 2 Collection (22 effects) for $69.
  6. I bought a couple of those On Stage pedals when I got my PC4, and have a post about them here somewhere (can't find it with a search). Anyways - they work fine for volume or non-critical mods, like filter cutoff and so on. They don't work for pitch mod though - way off. I had to disassemble and modify, and now they're acceptable.
  7. I just updated to the 8V collection, and all that stuff was included with it - the SQ80V and two soundbanks, and the synths that they were charging extra for as updates, like the Jup V4. The current sale runs until Oct, 5 and I think they'll probably give it some time to settle in before they announce V9. If you wait for V9, it'll be at the intro price, not like the current V8 sale price. Just something to consider.
  8. I can wait. While I'm alive, anyways.

  10. Still waiting for the PC461 here.
  11. There"s always a trade off. It"s a shame they can"t get their hands on a quality semi-weight synth action at the $1999 price point. Or maybe it was more important for them to get under 20lbs. It"s an otherwise killer board. Can you copy/paste their review? It"s blocked for me due to expired certificate. I think this is the relevant part (translated with Google): "....The touch behavior, on the other hand, is somehow strangely 'flubbery' - forgive me for the rather non-technical attribute at this point, but it actually best describes the fact that the keys have a - felt - exponential rebound behavior: Very soft in the first third of the way back , then powerful and in the last third softer again. So you always have a kind of trampoline effect under your fingers, which is quite fun with Rhodes and Clavinet sounds, but works poorly with expressive piano playing. In addition, the keyboard frame in the device apparently tends toto swing up when playing vigorously, which leads to an audible tonal resonance. For a while, it was obviously not well advised to deviate from the previous manufacturer Fatar and to build in a Young Chang in-house development...."

  13. Why not move your monitor to the Forte and use that?
  14. B&N near me closed. digital ruined everything
  15. Thanks for clearing that up, jarrell.
  16. I like the Prophecy - had the hardware unit back in the day. The miniKORG is pretty good too.
  17. Probably never. The only people who want such a thing are guys in their 50s or older. Not enough of a market In addition to that, their main focus is on analog stuff. I don't think they have a lot of interest in doing digital keyboards so far.
  18. Sounds like those would be a good place to start then. My favorite is the Matrix 12V, but probably just because I spent a lot of time making patches for a hardware Matrix. I got rid of the hardware a long time ago, but unless my memory is playing tricks one me, at times the software actually sounds better. Although the nit-pickers bad mouth it, I like the sound of the SEM V. It's a bit more limited in what you can do with it, but IMO, you'd have to really try to make it sound bad.
  19. I only see half off on the individual instruments. The collection is still full price. Still - very nice if you're looking to hand pick a few instruments from the bunch.

  21. Better to have it and not need it than vice-versa. I'd keep the PC4 - you may grow into it, and come to know, use, like, and depend on the things it's capable of that you're not using now.
  22. I was trying to wrap my head around how you could get one channel strip to provide different values for different notes, and the only thing I could come up with would be to have a program pump out multiple random values from one input. Might be fun, but not too practical.
  23. I'm curious to see if you succeed in your attempt, and if so, maybe you could post up some details of what's involved with it, and how it works. You can also 'draw' in poly-at data in DAW's, but it's not the same as playing it live.
  24. It only comes into play as a note is released. Most notes/chords are released quickly when I play. I usually use it more as something I want to accent or stand out at the end of phrase. You could do the same things for the most part with a pedal or a wheel. I just find it more convenient and expressive doing it with RV.
