  1. If you can truly play the 3rd movement of the Moonlight sonata and the other Beethoven Sonata's well, then your classical list is surely much longer and you are a very advanced piano player. Any pop/rock tune will be easy for you to learn, although you may need to figure out the "groove". Have you considered arrangements of guitar songs (e.g., I Know You Rider, etc.). There are many songs in your vocal range. Also, any song can be transposed down to your vocal range. Or, look for any melodies based in the C to F, maybe G range or transpose to where you are comfortable. I have the same issues with my vocal range...and the additional issue that my voice is just not very pleasant to listen to
  2. I'm young and hip...in my 40s, so obviously qualified to speak about current pop music. I thought Ocean Eyes was lame and boring. Turned it off after 15 seconds. I hope my teen daughter does not discover it. Don't want to hear it around the house. Now, the Beatles are welcome to come over anytime. There you have it folks! Ha ha!
  3. Stereotypes of income and music ability aside, I have an XK5 and a Leslie 3300. The onboard sim is not terrible, but not great. The sim on my Nord Stage 3 is better in some ways, for example the overdrive is better on the Nord. I definitely would not buy an XK5 for the onboard Leslie sim. I would, however, buy it for the overall tone, controls, keybed, and playability. It is amazing in that regard. And, of course, it sounds great with a outboard Leslie
  4. Millions and millions. Maybe even billions. Sorry...what was the question?
  5. Can you explain why/how you use the volume metering. I don't understand the use case, so it would be really interesting to learn about how you use the gear. Thanks!
  6. Hammond XK5 and Used Leslie 3300. I just could not contain the curiosity any longer.
  7. Seller pulled the middle panel and looked at edges. It looks to be plywood. It is a newer one purchase about 1 yr ago. It also says 3300 P on the label, but not sure if that means anything. Some older ones on Reverb do not have the P after the 3300. Anyway, the covering is thick, but it looks to be plywood on the edges. I also read the post from Jim that stated his newer one is plywood and has bass for days! Anyway, going to buy it! My back will love me
  8. Ha ha! I think the middle panel can be pulled and the edges examined. The seller is not nearby, so trying to verify before making the long drive. HammondDave - Where is the 3300 is your gealist?
  9. I'm looking at a used Leslie 3300 on craigslist. It is one of the black cabinets. How do I tell if it is mdf or plywood cabinet. Are the newer ones plywood?
  10. I started classical piano lessons at 7yrs old. Then, I heard two artists that opened my ears to synthesizers, etc. I heard my older brother (+10 yrs) listening to Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. I also heard Kitaro on a late night ambient radio program. I was hooked. My parents surprised me with a Roland D-20 for Christmas when I was 14yrs old. I had just missed the good analog years and the music stores were full of the new fm synthesizers. It did not matter...I had a blast with the sequencer on the D-20 making songs.
  11. This looks cool. I am very curious to see/try it when it is released. Maybe it will turn me away from the Nord club
  12. Very nice clean studio setup High Diving Act!
  13. I always forget about this thread and forget to listen through some of the posts. Enjoyed catching up this morning. MathOfInsect - Cool tunes. I followed you on the soundclouds. SkiGuy - A Three Dog Night tribute band is a fun idea. Loved the video/tunes. Working my way back through time on the posts. Thanks for sharing!
  14. I just started with the Peter Martin courses. They are filmed well and I really like his style of teaching. A good balance between explanation and playing. They are the best ones I have found so far.
  15. Thanks retrokeys. I would love to try one out.
  16. I have not heard much about this clone lately. It was supposed to be infinitely better than anything else. Is that true? Is it basically the real thing? Curious to hear what people who played it have decided. I still have not heard any side-by-side comparisons with the Nord, etc. Are they out there? Ok. That was a lot of questions. I need to know! haha!
  17. I don't have the DM12, but I have the TI2 and love it. However, I do not gig with it. It seems to be best in a studio setting. The computer integration is nice. I would probably use a less expensive board for live gigs...although I sometimes use my MoogVoyager . Have you considered the Prophet 6? I love mine and it would be my choice for a classic rock band. I'm guessing you would love any of them. All good choices.
  18. Sweet! That was a big week. I'm feeling your mood. In the past month I picked up a Prophet 6, Virus TI2, Arp Odyssey, and several sample libraries. The modular synth bug is starting to get into me too. Now, I just need more time to make music!
  19. Michael - I have watched a lot of you demo videos. Thanks for sharing! Love the rig!
  20. Very Nice! I really shouldn't be posting this video, because the sound distorts--bad cameraman. Trying to sort out the wav files now, but probably hopeless. THAT HAVING BEEN SAIDit's really pretty cool. Don Grusin on piano; Iraida Noriega on voice, Rick Shlosser on shaker and me on snare. Little Drummer Boy, from my concert Thursday night! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KowMYiGeE_4&feature=youtu.be
