  1. "Super calloused fragile mystic vexed by halitosis" ( Usually that's the punch-line to a very long rambling pre-amble.)
  2. Thanks Zephonic for recomending Eme Alfonso she is poetry personified! Here's a Live performance of her latest album "VOY";
  3. Obit; https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/jun/17/keith-tippett-obituary I swear I heard a piece of music on the radio one night which had Keith Tippett playing some tasty piano timbres behind David Bowie - think it was a live recording. Need to do some research on that! I bet piano tuners hated him! RIP Edit; According to The Complete David Bowie it must have been the American pianist Mike Garson who played on Bowie's Aladdin Sane LP ( Bowie wanted his own bit of jazz hipness after hearing Tippett's playing with Crimson.
  4. What a revelation! Never knew the Psalm part (from 26.10 after the bass solo) had coresponding words to John's solo! As jazzers used to say; " Man, Trane is DEEP shit! "
  5. Judging by the above video it sounds like Otis owes a lot to his ballad delivery ( sounds like the Stax horn section too.) Just last year I bought a LR vinyl - i don't think there was one rocker on the whole album - mostly gospel n ballads. The LP was from the nineties but in the cover shot he looked so good - could have passed for a thirty year old. No one else could look as cool as Little Richard in a sequined cape! RIP (it up!)
  6. Just to say Jahfume is leaving the building for his own sanity. See you all on the other side. Peace Out.
  7. Hope he lives to write another day. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/mar/29/john-prine-coronavirus-symptoms-critical
  8. Thanks for the explanation Dave. I wouldnt want to have been modded by anyone other than the MODFather. Most of the discussion on this thread is has been US based. If you guys n gals dont already know it - our UK Prime Minister Boris has COVID19 and is in isolation. I worry about my American brothers.
  9. The "moderators" (me) have attempted to make it clear in several places that this forum is not for politics. The sticky thread at the top of the forum marked READ BEFORE POSTING: Politics and Religion" explains why in more depth. The thread in question had gone in that direction. I understand there are many aspects of this situation that are relevant to the KC community. That's why we have this thread for the corona virus discussion, and I'm definitely allowing a few boundaries to be stretched here and there given the seriousness of the situation and the many benefits of us being able to share our thoughts and experiences in this strange time; however, I would appreciate it if we could not start multiple threads on the subject in KC... ...and please - keep the damn politics out of it. FWIW, there actually is a place on MPN where more social-oriented discussion is encouraged - that would be Dr. Anderton's forum. dB
  10. This analysis made me sit up. It is in-depth and a heavy read but the conclusions are optimistic https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-the-hammer-and-the-dance-be9337092b56 Can someone explain something to me; I posted this link in a new thread previously cause I thought the content was important and especially relevant to the US and the UK because of their attempts to use mitigation in reaction to the pandemic. The thread was pulled. But I dont know why.I used the term " dumb arsed politicians" (should have said dumb-arsed leaders) but the content of the link is no more' political' than anything on this thread. So why dont moderators generally give the poster a reason when they act in a summary way?
  11. That track is SOLID. Oh Lord, can you wind back a few days and take Harvey intsead?
  12. Grey, I was making a point about soft v hard wood as well as colour. Maple is a really soft wood but walnut stained black and laquered or french polished would be a good proposition. When i have time (and I do so - no excuses) and figure out how to dissemble it - going to ebonise the cheeks on my recently aquired Mojo 61.One side is dark and the other much lighter. The Mojo was a B stock and one cheek is split too.Looks like some kind of mahoganyish wood maybe sapile.
  13. If I owned one I would be replacing those maple side cheeks with...Ebony.
  14. Well recorded demo. If you have a spare half hour - and who has'nt? Dont fall asleep now! Its that polish dude- now sporting snazzy waist-coat.
  15. Also Moog is giving the Minimoog Model D for free to counteract the Coronavirus Blues ...(AKA Chinese flu - They're Bat-Crazy) https://www.engadget.com/2020/03/14/moog-and-korg-free-synth-apps/?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAEP463Gxv-NhbjU0WWQ7eV3aalqM7_AlwIcFT7ETyuI5F7nHCQC3SEpzu0bx13r_jxg0H0H0gh_A7sH1_8qffYEzPcnwKPV5GGU0W86JFtbwn_-9_JYnqmNXDjFC_sw0hToFGpnCV7sYhq_bdJGscIPqxvlm-jefyYRtZrrId6m2 Copy n Paste the above. I mean Clicky. Oh well, someone else might miss the other thread - I did!
  16. Jazz is a virus with its origins in Africa. I got it bad! ;-)
  17. Mellow. McCoy is so good looking and cool in the interview at the end - that's how I remember him.I saw him in about 2005 (?) he was very thin and gaunt. Jazz is African in origin not American - bit of an alien concept back in 1975.
  18. A Joy to hear and a Joy to see; phenomenal! McCoy FLYING on have You met Miss Jones (the set-list times are a bit screwy)
  19. I hear you Josh. When i was at Art college and threw a party now and then. At three in the morning - in order to clear the house of hanger-oners I would put on Love Supreme - Id be digging it and people would drift off Definitely a "Marmite" piece of music but it was Coltrane's intensity rather than McCoys that separated the men from the boys.
  20. Christ! Rest in Peace McCoy. I've only just got over losing Horace Silver! Cant say he inspired my playing as I aint that great but he sure inspired my soul.
  21. Korg SV2 ordered :-) Only joking Fleer! Will likely end up with Yammy CP88 but first will lay ears/hands on the RD. The On-line Parameters (in-depth editing) section of the manual dose not appear to be up on the Roland site so still don't know how deep the piano editing will be.
  22. Posted this in the wrong thread! Duh! Just an observation but this mega thread; https://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbth...piano-key-action-and-static-touchweights measures the casio PX1000 down weight at middle C to be 74grams So maybe those weights are a dangerous instument in the hands of a lay person? He dose one video where he compares his Steinway D with a Yamaha CP88 - its unbearable and a total waste of time - shows off his Steinway nicely though. So a successful video. In another vid he talks about sympathetic resonance and its painfully obvious he dose not understand it has nothing to do with the dampers. Another hate of mine is the monotony of his test piece/ pieces.Satie's Gnossienne No1 is painfully slow (Bit of a theme going on here;-)) In the up-thread vid he says there is one Digital Piano forum where no matter what the topic by the second page people are throwing insults at each other. I wonder what that forum is - cant be this one surely! ...but when you smile at the camera....Hes's very good at that! (Meant to say he confused sympathetic resonance with damper resonance.)
  23. Care to post a link? Don't see anything on his website.
