I think some who play it live, like an instrument, like to have their glitchy FX and synth mods and such go off with the pressure on the pad.

Polyphonic aftertouch is good enough for that surely - no need for MPE?

I will need to be able to take this transport onto the LIRR and around Manhattan if the cosmos will it.

(I had to look up LIRR)

Personally I wouldn't enjoy manhandling a 4-wheel "flat-bed" truck on and off a train. Two wheels for the win - but you have quite a lot of gear. I think I would go:

    - Two keyboards and the stand on a two-wheel dolly, secured with velcro nylon straps (this might be a challenge, based on the thickness of the boards, and you might have to forego the stool).

    - Amp in the other hand

    - Shoulder bag with everything else.

I can get my two boards (one 76 hammer, one 73) onto a 2-wheel dolly, with a bag over my shoulder and a stand in the other hand, and I can haul of that in one trip. No amp (IEMs) and no stool, though.

Pat Metheny has an opinion on this topic. Pentatonics are mentioned at 2.40. The next minute and a half is a masterclass.

Thanks for posting. Pat articulates in a few seconds what I've been struggling to express - "show me" the chord. That means recognising that a chord has changed.

The usual "minor pentatonic of I over all the chords" is the antithesis of that.

React to the chord changes, anticipate them, flow with them (pentatonics are allowed to do that by the way) - so much more interesting. Simple example (deliberately avoiding "Jazz" repertoire): Sultans of Swing, 1:37 https://youtu.be/cF3OWCYLLVQ?t=97. The lick is over A7, and picks out C# and B - neither of which are in Dm pentatonic. I've been shown a chord.

    Cheers, Mike.

  4. Yeah, sorry to the manufacturer, but this is nonsense. The "C" on the keyboard on the left is always the 1st degree - no matter what key centre? And how about modal interchange/borrowed chords? Even something simple like the IV minor (the "Christmas chord") would be left out of this model.

Plus - who would pay what must be hundreds of dollars for that box, when it could more easily be done as a $10 app.

So...what in the heck are we / users supposed to do with pre-USB-C iPads if they're not going to be usable with the CCK? Are these now, in effect, musical doorstops? WTF?

It looks like signed iOS 16.4.1 is still available, and can be restored using iTunes.

It should never have come to this, by the way. Expect an incoming iOS 16.5.1 which fixes the bug.

️Attention always updaters! You might want to wait before updating your OS if you use one of these

Thanks for the warning - I've got some important gigs lined up for June and I rely on my iPad for charts and patch changes, via one of those adapters.

Is Yamaha is Good like Yamaha CHR10 or Yamaha DHR10

    Or any other brands

Can we use studio monitors like Yamaha HS8

Studio monitors are ideal for home use. The CHR/DHR range are designed for live/on-stage. I don't know much about them, but the DXR series has a good reputation. Also look at ElectroVoice and QSC in this price bracket. Alto for a budget alternative, as mentioned above by @Adam Burgess

  8. Great gig report. You are earning your dues as a gigging musician.

(And a good choice of song for an encore...)

Next question - were/are your ears ringing? I ran my B205D-equivalent at 75% last night and it was far too loud for me without protection.

  9. Ryanair will take every opportunity to charge you to check a bag into the hold if it doesn't comply with their policy. They quite literally pride themselves on poor customer service/reputation.

Your Nord will definitely not be allowed into the cabin, even if you pay for an overhead cabin case. You might get the Korg 61 into a cabin case, but definitely not in an underseat bag.

    I’ve always wanted a stand-alone Hammond clone[...]VK1000[...]VR09[...]YC73[...]Dexibel Combo J7[...]Studiologic Numa Compact 2X.

Back OT, I still have yet to experience the pure, stand alone, high-end clone wheel in my arsenal, and have yet to find the gig that requires it. Someday, maybe.

How close does the Hammond SK Pro come? Top-flight organ sound and action, and mono synth, but VR09-quality acoustic piano.

    Cheers, Mike.
