  1. Getting older sux. Not for the faint of heart. Period. Just keep working.
  2. Well, after doing a lot of vocal exercises/lessons, over the years, and singing, I have great deal of respect for good vocalists. You can't sit back on your laurels that's for sure, and gotta keep working the voice, constantly, adjusting for age. I did all the high parts when I was playing 6 nights, a long time ago, not sure how I did it, nor if I could it now. I am retraining my older voice. Which takes about 2 hours a day.
  3. interesting. Might be the answer for me. I have not taken my sax out for a gig in a very long time, not wanting to take an expensive horn into the places I get to play.
  4. I am beginning to think this instrument is unobaitium! I switched to the 88, sacrificing the weight/size, for the action and the real estate! Hoping soon! Waiting this long sure takes the fun out of a new purchase. I may retire totally before I get it. I can certainly use the money.
  5. Back into vocal courses/exercises. Neighbours may call police claiming I am strangling cats again. Nice heavy Atlas ms 25.
  6. Very sad to hear this Darren. Rest in Peace Andy.
  7. First combo band that I played keys for, took me on, despite my playing for only about a year. I had played woodwinds in all kinds of situations, since I was a kid, but no keyboard experience at all. They were all 10-15 years older than me, and quite patient. I was replaced about a year later, with one of the killer guys on the scene, which was really a no brainer for them. That was 45 years ago. Thing is, I started studying with this player, and the rest is history! Never give up, never give in, just keep working. It's worth it.
  8. I can appreciate the frustration. I have a few great players I can call on. I lost my go to drummer/best friend last year. I just have to endeavour to write something worthy of their time.
  9. I will play everything with vst's for reference and composition, but with the intent of letting real players apply their own magic to any final product. I have spent hours trying to create interesting drum tracks, but would rather have a good player. I would, of course, not realistically be able to do this with orchestral arrangements.
  10. Did you try Thomann in Germany? I buy most of my K & M hardware from them, and even with shipping and any duties it is cheaper and faster than I can get it here in Canada. Worth a look.
  11. It's Lawrence Gowan Dave, you know, now also plays with Styx. Has had an extensive solo career previous to that. He's a great singer and musician. Strange Animal and Criminal Mind are two of his big hits. This solo album really shows off his chops! Mike
  12. Bought at the Gowan concert Thursday! Very nice recording.
  13. I ran across them in the record store in the next town Dave. I had not heard of them before. I have yet to hear sides 1 and 2 of volume 2, as both records are sides 3, 4! Replacement is on order. Apparently they are imports, I thought everything was an import here!
  14. Just got this midi switcher from Fentronics in the UK. I might have built one myself, but I'm pretty lazy.
  15. Nobody is getting out of this alive. I think that at this point, it's important to prioritise our lives, and appreciate what is truly worthy of spending our emotional currency on. We all have lost family and friends, but we just get on with it regardless . Losing icons in our lives, just emphasises the fragility of life, as you mentioned. "nothing changes but the changes". Sucks, but what do you do? I didn't design the system, but I am bound to operate within it. The grief we feel is the price, for the love we got from those we lost.
