  1. Looking and listening to the presets on virtual Minimoogs is a good way to learn. Sometimes the patch name gives you a clue (e.g., if the patch is called LuckyMan...).
  2. Has anyone figured out how to disable the Sleep feature on the NTS-1? I did the update but can't find out how to turn it off. edit: Here is how: Hold down the Reverb button while powering up the NTS1. Then rotate the TYPE knob to 'SLP', and rotate knob B to '0'.
  3. I remember years ago, the band decided to try Roundabout. I said 'Hang on a moment', then hit a big E minor chord, recorded and reversed it in about 20 seconds' time. Then told the band 'OK, I'm ready!' This was back during the ASR-10 days.
  4. The Polyend Poly2 might do some/all of what you need. It's a eurorack module.
  5. That was a spot-on vocal imitation of the Ondes Martenot / theremin sound. I remember the Magic Egg vinyl insert in Keyboard Mag too! That was over 30 years ago
  6. That would be amazing! Particularly for motorized faders. You could make presets out of some buttons, and visually look at your drawbars / faders to quickly see what you dialed up. Will MIDI 2.0 address any of these tricks with virtual instruments?
  7. I have sometimes wished my Nord Stage 2 had 4 or 5 'external' sections and no internal sections. Nord is missing a trick by not making a MIDI controller board.
  8. Not that I have noticed. It's not a great action overall but it doesn't feel uneven.
  9. I have a red MS-1. The keys sometimes scratch me when I play. I think it's the sides or the bottom of the keys. The action itself is OK. The biggest disappointment for me is that the MS-1 won't send pitch bend over MIDI. It would make a great controller otherwise, especially with the velocity CV out.
  10. Thanks Markyboard! I think the D is 70hp, so I'd have 34 left, not 20. But your point probably still stands... I should get a bigger case. Or leave the D intact and then fill up the case. Thanks for the suggestions on modules. Great tip on VCAs & footpedal.
  11. I'm thinking of buying (or making) a 104hp Eurorack case, and throw in the Behringer D along with some complementary eurorack modules. Things like a sample&hold, extra LFOs, and so on. Maybe even effects. The idea is to stick with the D for the oscillators / filter, but add useful stuff. Any suggestions? There won't be much space, so I'll go for mostly small hp modules.
  12. I've got a Behringer D and a MS101. I figure they'd make a great pair. But I can't get the D to respond to the MS101 bender/mod wheel. Is there a way to do this?
  13. I have one in the basement with 3 or 4 broken keys. It's the first generation. Unless the 2nd gen is much better, I'd say no.
  14. There is a David Battino story on this in the latest issue of 'Waveform' magazine, if anyone gets that. He made a sort of MIDI switcher from a TRS line mixer.
  15. A couple weeks ago, I used this feature to find a new way to 'rickroll' someone. Me & the wife are sitting on the couch, and I start to play the Never Gonna Give You Up video at .25 speed. After a while she asks me 'What are you listening to?' I don't respond. About 30 seconds later she gets a look of recognition on her face and laughs.
  16. From now on I'm just going to hollow out a potato and make an ocarina.
  17. How do you run a Mojo61 through a 145 Leslie? Only way I know is buy a Trek preamp pedal ($600 and out of stock), or buy a vintage Leslie combo preamp pedal (hard to find, ~$400). A couple years ago, I stupidly sold my Leslie preamp pedal and sold it too cheaply, probably to one of you forumites Is there another method?
  18. Great info! I'll start checking these out. Thanks!
  19. Does anyone know of software that will morph from one person's vocal (or speech) to another person's? I'd like to do the auditory equivalent of these 'deepfake' videos where they replace one actor's face with another. I'd like to slowly morph from one voice to another. Any ideas for how to approach this?
  20. "Piano players rarely ever play together." - Allen Toussaint But we should. To me, there is nothing better than a band with two keyboardists. Piano / B3 is a classic combo. You need two hands on each of those to make it sound right. I know some of the keys players around NE Ohio because we fill in for each other, recommend each other if someone calls and we can't do the gig, hang out at jam nights, etc.
  21. He's a great piano player too!
  22. There is at least one piano company (Steinbuhler) making smaller-scale pianos. You can get a 7/8 piano keyboard mechanism and drop it into your acoustic piano. Personally, I would LOVE to have a slightly smaller keyboard. Why would it be a good idea for violins, guitars, etc. but not keyboard instruments? It's not like the current keys size was mandated by Heaven.... it's arbitrary. Why not acknowledge that humans come in a variety of sizes? I get along with mini keys well, but wish someone would make a high-quality 'semi-weighted' or 'synth action' mini keyboard.
  23. I used a TC Harmony M for years, mostly just to amuse myself, not on gigs. Then it stopped working, and I got TC's big VoiceLive 3 extreme. That was a lot of fun, but kind of overwhelming. Eventually I got the Perform VK. The VK is better in some ways than the old Harmony M, but it is not user-friendly and kind of limited.
  24. The acoustic piano on the Mojo61 isn't *awful*. It has a charm to it. I played a blues gig with just the Mojo recently, and the piano sounded pretty good in a full band context. I like the ringing of the high keys. I had my Korg Plugkey and Ravenscroft on my phone ready to set up, but I didn't bother as the Mojo piano sounded OK.
