  1. From the manual, "For mono keyboards, simply connect to the left input only – the Key-Largo will automatically route the signal to both the left and right outputs." If your keyboard can generate the desired mono-summing...
  2. Studio upgrades: IsoAcoustics stands, Sonarworks SoundID Reference, Sonible smart:limit. Oh no, I forgot to ask for another board! Sorry!
  3. Thanks. I have the Nord Lead A1 and am using that right hand casing "real estate" for a little Akai sampler. But I need to reconsider how much I gain in adding the Reface. What you say rings true - I can't compromise the ergonomics of the main board. I think I'm probably moving away from the Reface idea.
  4. I use an Apex AX-48 with one set of arms. Being a taller player, they are set pretty high up. Right now I've got a single board - a Nord Lead A1, but with an Akai MPX8 sample player affixed to the top right-hand side. I'm thinking of picking up a Reface YC, but am wondering how I'd incorporate it into the setup. If I put it above, lowering the Nord slightly, it seems like it would obscure the Akai pads and possibly the Nord controls (I assume I'd put that on longer arms and pull it forward). If I put it below, it seems it wouldn't be wide enough for the longer arms (and I also wonder if it'd look odd). Anybody have advice or a similar setup?
  5. I had a Virus kb. Serious board indeed! Despite its knobiness, I found it a little "menu-y" to program. And of course it's on the heavier side. Wish I still had it, but simpler and lighter won the day. But that action! Oh how I miss that action! Only downsides I can think of.
  6. I'm guessing no (practical) limit. I'd just been using short one-shots. The manual doesn't mention anything. As a test, I just loaded up a 70 MB stereo WAV file. 44.1 kHz. 24-bit. 4:40 long. Loaded up (from Dropbox) and triggered no problem.
  7. I use BeatMaker 3. Dropbox import. Multiple banks of pads. Banks can be color coded.
  8. I use iDrive and am happy with it. There are a few quirks. I don't use real time backup though. I have it set to run a backup every night at midnight and then shutdown my PC. Quirks: 1. You can have it excludes files/folder, but then the backup message says some files weren't updated. Every now and then I get an e-mail saying something didn't backup correctly. I'll usually trigger a manual backup and everything will be fine. 2. It doesn't delete anything automatically - that can be a pro or a con for you. Files that exist in the cloud but not locally are only deleted when you execute a purge command. That being said, I *have* gone in to retrieve old data! But it does chew up more space. The basic plan starts at 2TB.
  9. Thanks for all the great ideas! I'll report back on the path chosen...
  10. The Tech 21 Midi Mouse caught my eye to do program changes on my Nord Lead A1. However, the Nord's implementation chart only lists Program Change True#. Just looking for a confirmation on my understanding of the two together: 1. If the MM puts out Increment/Decrement the Nord will just ignore it. It doesn't implement such a thing. I did confirm through MIDIOX that front panel changes come through as CC0 Program Changes. 2. If the MM puts out Program Change, I will have to be careful to ONLY use the MM for changes, 'lest they get out of sync. For instance, if I'm on program 1.1 and the MM is on program 1, and then I change to program 15 on the Nord via its panel, the MM up button will actually take me to program 2. Sound about right? I guess my other alternative would be to use Set List Maker (which I already use) and a Bluetooth switch to increment songs/patches and send the true program change.
  11. Any advice on adhering an iPad Mini to the top metal face of a Nord Lead A1? Would like it secure for shows, which includes tapping the screen to fire off samples from BeatMaker and song changes with Set List Maker, but easy enough to remove for other purposes. Thanks!
  12. I'm again saying Husker is correct... my D-50 install now shows as expired! The TR-808, installed at the same time, still works. I imagine that'll expire too. I installed the Jupiter 8, System 8, and SH-2, which all appear as unlocked for me. They all have presets. It's a little confusing though because if you click to open presets you see a blank window (or maybe is just says preset 1). But there are '>' characters on the right hand side. Clicking there is where all the presets really are. So yes, I've gotten presets with all my installs. Bottom line - the only things free with the free account are Zenology Lite and Zenbeats Free. Anything else that shows as unlocked, that you didn't pay for, is a demo. I don't see that documented anywhere. And now to uninstall all those demos!
  13. Thinking Husker is going to be correct. My cloud manager no longer shows the D-50 (but I do have it installed). Instead it gives me the option of installing Jupiter 8 and System 8 now (showing as UNLOCKED). It's very unclear, but it stands to reason these are demos.
  14. See. That's been my difficulty in assessing. Even though I signed up months ago, I only just installed the D-50 this past weekend. There are plenty of presets (Fantasia, Digital Native Dance, etc.). Now I wonder if it's going to go away or revert to noise bursts after 30 days. The Library literally has the word "FREE" for Zenology Lite (and Zenbeats), but not for the others, which just say "UNLOCKED." It also seems like you may get different free things depending on what special they're running when you sign up? If I go to the D-50 page in Roland Cloud Manager there's a button that says "GO PRO" and a button that says "LIFETIME KEY." But it also says "AVAILABLE IN LIBRARY," which not all do. So, back to my OP... LOL Thanks for the info. I guess the clock is ticking and I'll report back.
  15. Yes. My free account has a free D-50 VSTi that doesn't require specific hardware. Install the Roland Cloud Manager. Click on Library. Filter on Software. I see Zenology Lite, D-50, TR-80, and Zenbeats.
  16. I think I have it figured out. Updating for posterity... Zenology Lite is an instrument. Free and loadable as a VSTi (Windows). D-50 is a separate instrument. Free and loadable as a VSTi (Windows). TR-80 is a separate instrument. Free and loadable as a VSTi (Windows). The patches that show as "unlocked" require you to gain access (subscription/purchase) to the models they support. The manager software prevents installation without the models already installed. Got it now.
  17. Still having trouble understanding the free Roland Cloud account and Zenology Lite. Searched the forum, read a few posts, and watched a few videos. But my account confuses me. I see I can install Zenology Lite, but it also says I can install D-50 from the Legendary Series. I click install, and it installs, but I don't know what it installed! LOL Is it D-50 presets for Zenology Lite? Or a standalone thing? There's also TR-808 available as well as a handful of Patches.
  18. I'm willing to give it a shot. PM'ing you...
  19. I'm guessing you have a valid (and current) Cubase license? If so, Steinberg has a download page and instructions for conversions. CLONK
  20. And here I thought I needed an Obie for Rush covers!
