  1. In pattern mode, on the right side of the display it says "MEAS" and there's an icon of some keyboard keys. Beneath that it should display 001:01/004. For this explanation, I call that 00'X':0'Y'/00'Z', where 'X' is the measure number, 'Y' is the beat within the measure, and 'Z' is the number of measures. To accomplish what you're wanting to do, set 'Z' to however many measures you want to record in the pattern for your chord progression. Then when you change to a different part to record the percussion parts, change 'Z' to that length. For example, if you set 'Z' to 8 and then recorded 8 bars of chords, then changed 'Z' to 2 and start recording the percussion part, the percussion part will loop after two bars. Pattern mode is cool because you can set different part loop lengths for each part. If you want to have some fun, try recording multiple parts with different pattern lengths. Make some of them odd numbers of measures and it can get interesting. Hope this helps.
  2. Here is lots of information and pics of his custom Hammond. Very interesting stuff. What a mind to plan and implement all this gear.
  3. Birthday greets and well wishes to a fine fellow!
  4. I'm not hating on Jacob, but this is an incredibly descriptive sentence! Love it.
  5. A forum member posts a video of themselves playing (working on their learning curve) and receives loads of support. This video gets posted and displays someone's musical skills and she gets summarily dismissed by some. Although she's garnered some notoriety on Youtube, she's not a nationally known artist that's 'made it'. I wonder about the different measuring stick being applied to her skill set.
  6. All these guys are doing is making it complicated to figure out how to spend your money. I'll make it simple.......... Just send it to me. PM me if interested.
  7. I have the Voiceworks model, looks like those are momentary switches.
  8. Some of my thoughts on this topic (in no particular order). Prolonged stress = distress = breakdown. The Golden Rule still rules. "Don't try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes time and annoys the pig." You never know what's going in someone's life or in their head. Just because someone's good at something doesn't mean they're good at running a business doing the same thing. The dude's actions speak for themselves. Not defensible but may have reasons (regardless of justification). Everything I see about you (Markyboard) is that you're a really nice person. Yes, based on your posts and words, but like many here, I think i know you fairly well. You obviously posted about this because you were hurt by the experience (another indication that you're a good guy). Don't be hurt, you weren't wrong. My 2 cents. Greg
  9. A profound statement!! I agree.
  10. Stated many places in the national news is that those who E-filed their federal taxes would see checks first. The bank account info is already there.
  11. 'When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!' Since everyone worldwide has been affected by the Coronavirus, there"s an abundance of 'lemons" right now. There is tremendous value in being thankful during this tumultuous time and I thought it valuable to share our 'make lemonade" stories. Here"s one. My daughter is finishing her senior year as a musical theater major at Western Kentucky University. She"s endured lots of losses caused by this pandemic. She had a lead role in the spring musical that was cancelled, no graduation ceremony, no chance to say 'goodbyes" to classmates, etc. She"s back home, taking online classes, trying to figure out how to live in our household again, mostly isolated from all her friends. It"s been tough and my wife and I feel badly for her. Now for the lemonade. She has her spring vocal recital tonight (via Zoom). When she came home a couple weeks ago, she asked if I"d accompany her. Awesome!! We"ve spent the past weeks rehearsing daily, each of us preparing for an excellent performance of 'Always Better" from the Broadway production of 'Bridges of Madison County". It"s a nice song that really goes somewhere dynamically and my daughter is killing it. As we"ve rehearsed, she"s recorded it and sent to her vocal professor for feedback. After running through it last night, her professor told her it was her best performance yet, and that being able to practice at home daily (with me) was a great benefit. She stressed the positivity of the circumstances and verbalized the great result. I"m looking forward to sharing this performance with my daughter tonight. And I"m thankful for this opportunity that would have otherwise never existed. Although the audience will be small, it will be one of the more meaningful musical things I've done since I can share it with her. Making lemonade, Greg
  12. Using the plugkey but sometimes get distorted output through it. Audio jack sounds fine. Any suggestions?
  13. Does a subscription to EM help support this website in any way? I subscribed to Keyboard Mag for many years but don't get a lot out of EM. If the subscription helps the endeavor of this website, I'll renew. Thoughts?
  14. Reminds me of this. One of SNL's better efforts. Funny watching Janet Jackson repeatedly break character. [video:youtube]
  15. Are you thinking some of the moves we see her make are fake, in that we're supposed to think she's triggering a loop/pattern/sound but it's prerecorded? I don't think that, but others on this thread have suggested that some or all of the video is 'lip synced' and/or pre-produced.
  16. While this is also impressive, it demonstrates what I don't like about live looping. It takes so long to build up the song as the layers are created.
  17. There's a nice interview with her here. CLONK In it she says "I start by pulling up an instance of iZotope"s VocalSynth 2, which applies a bit of pitch correction, subtle harmony undertones/doubling to fatten up the vocal, and an almost undetectable amount of distortion and compuvox [glitchy, 'computerized' sounds] to help the vocal cut through the mix. VocalSynth 2 might be my favorite plug-in of all time." Right, it's not just looping. I believe she's firing off recorded loops as well as creating live loops on the fly. I'm not sure what might be pre-recorded but it's obvious (after watching quite a few of her Youtube videos) that her performances/video's are similar in how she conducts her workflow. I don't know why she would work that hard to create the illusion of doing all that stuff live. I think her material, writing, arranging, performance, vocal chops all stand on their own regardless of whether they are tracked or not. If it is live, it's all the more amazing. I believe the live loops and vocals are all done live as it all appears amazingly tight with the audio.
  18. [video:youtube] I'm mesmerized by this young talent! I don't understand how she's processing everything that she's doing, all while singing and playing. I know she's doing some live looping and firing off recorded loops. Can anyone explain more about her process?
  19. I'm concerned that the CPU requirements might be the snag in implementing.
  20. Little known fact....... There actually is a harpsichord part on that song but the producer kept saying "less harpsichord!" after each take.
  21. This puts you above those that leave comments without reading the threads.
