  1. The hardware upgrade of an HX3 MIDI Expander from HX3.4 to HX3.5 includes:

Replacing the mainboard, replacing the backpanel and adding a solder tag for the ground connection to the case.

In addition we desolder an IC from the menu panel and add a second 10pin header to enable dimming of the LEDs. This part can be omitted of course.

If you send us the HX3.4 mainboard and order the HX3.5 mainboard for DIY upgrade, you can add a note. Then we would already solder the lug to the board and prepare the backpanel to fit. Then the exchange can be done without soldering simply by plugging in a connector with reverse polarity protection and by screwing the backpanel. Instead of the mainboard you can send the complete expander. Then we do the conversion for free. Contact info@keyboardpartner.de in advance for the clarification of the customs declaration.

Considering the shipping costs and customs formalities on both sides, however, it would probably be easier and cheaper to sell the used Expander 3.4 locally and simply order a new unit. You can make $400 to $500 from the sale, and the export price (excluding German VAT) is 629.41 (WiFi version 654.62). The board exchange would cost 378,15.

Christian, I thought the mini USB was changed to type B port.
  2. it's more involved than just reconfiguring the software with an update , the 3.5 uses an FPGA chip with a lot more memory
Understood but it's more than just a chip change, I believe a board needs to be changed out which probably includes the chip and maybe the addition of a board, not sure, as well as the USB socket change out.
  3. I lived in Steamboat for a few years when I first moved out here about 35 years . I became extremely physically fit there,

wow great time to be alive. woud take trips to Telluride, Beaver Creek Taos and Alta. I aso got deep into aviation, 18 months

getting an A&P 2 years Avionics school, along the way I got my pilots license & instrument rating I was all over the plce in

little Moony Ranger, damb that was a cool ride I've been out here in the front range mostly, between Denver and Boulder.

  4. The wife and I got our second Pfizer shot Sat morning. I immediately turned off the GPS on my phone (with the tracking chip fully installed and now operational, the GPS is redundant)....only side effect was that for 6 or 7 hours I had aquired the ability to bend spoons with the power of my mind, but by Sunday morning it was gone.....
Well I farted and blew the back of my recliner off, is that supposed to be a side affect.
  5. Ah, memories. I remember drooling over this beast at Guitar Center on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood in the late 70s. I can still remember that point in time - on the other side of the street from the current location. In the keyboard room - this Oberheim beast, the Yamaha CS80 in front of the sidewalk window, Arp Omni, 2600 and Odyssey in the house, a Roland small modular rig (forget the model number), Fender Rhodes, and a bunch of other goodies. A golden age of keyboards.

And now for about $100 bucks, I can recreate that crazy synth I could once only dream about?? Are you kidding me? I'm in.

I remember their keyboard room back then was awfully small I did buy a CP-80 DX-7 poly 61 and an SQ80 from them.

  6. Thanks, it's not to scale and the base needs to be longer in the back plus the rear support needs to come back

more and attach higher at the upper cross bar. Need detailed drawings from Plixio. I use to know a good TIG

welder but no ideal where he is theas days.

  7. Now being a clone wheel owner, I don't use soft B3s much anymore, but I did love B5 before getting my Mojo. My one complaint with both V1 and V2 was that the overdrive felt very tame. It was hard to get that really fierce "grinding" sound I like in heavy rock organ material. I initially had the same feeling with VB3 until I found the "feedback" control. So like me axe yous this... has anyone played with the OD and found it to be substantially better than with V2?

First thing I noticed, no growl, like where's the beef. Only example I heard was church lady through a thinly veiled drive.

  8. Thank you guys !

"Never consider an 88 for controls other than it's keys. always have a board above to carry controller load"

What 'above board' would you recommand then ? Thanks :))

Like the others have said the controller is purely about your needs and preference.

My upper board is in my sig and I also use a BCR2000 when needed.
