  1. I'm still trying to put it together so I have no samples yet. Like I said I don't have the optimal 3rd guy yet. But I will definitely post in the shameless plugs when I got something. Yeah Vincent Crane. If I had the chops I'd do some quatermass but alas I'm no Peter Robinson.
  2. Not really a jazz trio for me, maybe more like Atomic Rooster but yeah LH bass is fun in a trio. But it does limit me to more simplified parts and the decision is if I'm going to solo do I solo over a bass line with no chords or solo over chords and the bass drops out. I think I'd like a bass/guitar player with a doubleneck. With the right guy and a great drummer I could see a great project. I don't hold much hope though. Any of the good bass players around here jump from band to band on a gig by gig basis for the $$$. Experimental music is mostly dead.
  3. I'm going to have to play a mellotron dirge. RIP Mr Pinder.
  4. I also like the b3x leslie at least enough to leave my vent at home in most cases. I checked to see if there was an ik mm standalone leslie and the answer is yes. But it's confusing to sort out their T-racks products from Amplitube and which is supporting what platform ie windows or ios.
  5. I go for a good plate verb. Digital of course. Or some clone if a good lexicon tiled room. The Zoom pedal ms70cdr has a great tiled room copy. It never gets muddy or in the way. Good for vocals too.
  6. Synths will die when: 1 The audience is gone. 2 The players are gone. Especially #2. I do wonder if hardware synths will disappear leaving the zenology model to stand. It's suprising how long B3s have stuck around. They were king in the 60s before the guitar plus distortion sound took over. And before that it was saxophone. All of these are still popular for looking back at the music of their heyday. None are making NEW great music in our day. Today's dominant instrument is the Hip Hop producers computer. That takes a different king of chops and it remains to be seen if any of it becomes classic and is covered by ensembles 50 years from now or is discarded like a candy bar wrapper.
  7. I can't find anything anywhere to suggest that any of the many audiokit synth apps support aftertouch.
  8. No AUM is iOS. I have those old vst's but I'm not staying up nights thinking about them. I have dozens of iOS apps too and they are far more better than the windows ones. I wouldn't trade AUM for any other instrument app host or iPad for any other device.
  9. I have used reaper and like it. But the version I used several years ago was awkward to set up the channel controls for midi control. Compared to AUM it's like having 2 hands and 1 foot tied behind my back. Setting up splits and zones and different midi channels for each instrument in a session in AUM is super easy and in reaper I'm not even sure it can do all the settings I use. Like setting the octave range of a zone or midi control of every parameter on any auv3 instrument of effect app. And saving all those assignments. Maybe the 2024 version of reaper can but i doubt it, the 2016 version of reaper for sure couldn't.
  10. My biggest issue was windows, hence my strong move to ipad which I wish I did years earlier. Although NOW is the sweetspot to get in to ipads as the 9th Gen ipad has the power to be extremely reliable.
  11. I don't know how android tech savvy you are but here's a video about enabling ON THE GO which is sort of androids version of camera kit speak.
  12. I actually have at least a few hundred interesting and usable FREE synths for windows I harvested from KVR a number of years ago. Including Organized Trio from GSI. An early form of VB3. I have barely tried the first 20 of them. Problem is they are all 32 bit and getting less stable as windows gets updated, I'm not even sure how many still work in windows 11. And the flow of all the freebies died out about 5 years ago. The culture of homemade synths from the synthedit platform that was going on back in the pre 2016 era ended. It's a shame because I have a couple of really good mellotrons like redtron, that are ridiculously good for free.
  13. Another factor that's a plus for ipad is iOS apps seem to be much less in price than PC vsti's.
  14. If both adapters are usb C why won't the old adapter work with the new phone?
  15. I just watched Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning pt1. I don't want to give THE ENTITY any more power so I avoid all forms of AI.
  16. If I didn't have the organ thing already covered many times over, mostly in software but not totally, I would be tempted more. But I just don't need to bring in another keyboard in the house on a GAS impulse. The synth keys probably are the the tipping point against.
  17. I bought these in the gauges of a full set and still have most of them. But I only change strings if one breaks or I have a crucial gig on guitar. Since I am not currently playing guitar in a band that's like never. I still practice daily cause I like having chops and still find it fun. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Rogue/P10-Bulk-12-Pack-010-Plain-Steel-Electric-Guitar-Strings-1274034494660.gc
  18. That's how I mounted my car radio in my 196? VW bug back in the day.
  19. I gotta say the new Audio Kit Nerd is heading for my top 5 pretty fast.
  20. Yeah I'm addicted . I'm a compulsive Audio Kit synth buyer. And they just keep getting better and better. And at $5 bucks it's like buying a new Roland board without having to store a hardware synth. And what else will $5 buy you today? Half a hamburger? 20 miles worth of gasoline? Almost a pack of guitar strings. Or a soft synth with 400 presets, probably 100 of them useful in a song. Ok I've convinced myself.
  21. I was checking out the new Nerd app that is being discussed on another thread and I wasn't sure but I thought it felt slightly latent. I checked the apps buffers and it was defaulted to 512. I reset to the extreme low buff of 64 and got no glitches and the slight latency got even slighter. Like no latency . Check your buffers within the app.
  22. 9th Gen seems to be about bullet proof for running lots of apps in one session of AUM. IDK the limit but I'm guessing more than 10, possibly 20 for all I know it could handle lots more. I'm sure it depends on the efficiency of the apps and effects apps you run. B3x gave me problems once when I had the sample rate mismatched between the app and aum. That problem hasn't reoccured but I have been running b3x outside of AUM out of habit anyways. At some point I'm going to get all in there with using b3x in aum and put in an elaborate left/right split so the left hand doesn't duck the right because I get some of that. Also I want the left hand outside the leslie or at least independent leslies on both sides of the split.
