  1. Gig and gear report:

Pat Bianchi Trio at Felice 83

    1593 1st Ave, NY, NY

Pat Bianchi- Key B Legend Organ, Bass Pedals, (2) Sonovox Amplifiers

    Scott Kreitzer-Tenor

    Jonathon Peretz-Canopus Drums, Cymbals

Pat Bianchi is the real, monstrous, righteous deal.

His left hand is an absolutely, completely seperate entity from his Right hand and feet. A living, breathing, swinging bass player lives there.

His linear playing and rhythmic sense is on another level of any "Jazz" Organist currently active and yes, that includes Joey D. (But excludes Dr. Lonnie, who is a law unto himself.)

His comping is breathing and swinging, like Freddie Green or Wes.

His timbral sensitivity is outstanding and his use of the swell pedal makes it truly deserving of its "expression" moniker.

His bandmates were excellent and they play together like a real, working band.

    Gear:

He used the older Key-B Duo and it sounded AWESOME thru the two little Sonovox amps. Bass for days and I did NOT miss a Leslie, that's how good the rotary sim is, and he says the new one has been improved.

(I am seriously going to have to consider the Legend as well as the MAG/Diversi)

He was super cool and generous with his time and I'm going to email him in a couple of weeks (after he has recieved delivery of his Legend.

    Thanks, Pat.

  2. mate_stubb, do you know if the Legend Live has preset buttons? I haven't been able to digure that out from the spec pdf or the pictures.....

i'm very interested in the Legend Live as it's closest to the true ergonomics besides the MAG custom organs, and I'm looking at solutions with and without preset keys....preset keys are preferable ergonomically but the extra 10 lbs plus the longer dimensions are not.

  3. Klaus, thanks for your detailed assesment!

Re: Mixers- you will never go wrong with a Mackie 802 VLZ4 --- or any Mackie Analog Mixer (NOT PRO FX-!!!!!!)

The 802 VLZ will be the best $199 you'll spend. Clean, quiet and lots of headroom. Built like a tank.

On another note, I just received my SSv3 on Wed but I've been working like a dog getting home past the time I can fire it up in my Bklyn apt. I'm itching to "get behind the wheel but I won't be able to hit it til next Wed after 3......:(

I will publish my "review" after then.

  4. A real smack-your-head moment!

I am a fairly recent lurker with the occasional post, but, yes, of course, introducing oneself makes perfect sense and is a lot more polite than the lurk.

I am a full time pro musician, freelancing in NYC and now Philly.

Toured and Touring with Various and Sundry Rogues.

You name it, I've played it! (Both gear-wise and style-wise)

My heart is in any Groove-Based Music, Jazz, Funk, Soul, R+B (the REAL Rhythm and Blues) Gospel, Afrobeat, any African, Eastern or Afro-Carribean based music.

My setup right now is a Nord Stage Compact, MacBook Pro (with Logic,Live, Komplete 7, Minimonsta, M-Tron, Pianoteq and Omnisphere) QSC K12's (maybe soon 10's or 8's and hopefully Mark's ashly linemixer!)

I have found the people in this forum to be most generous and helpful with their knowledge and time and I would like to contribute in any way possible, time and professional commitments notwithstanding.
