  1. And regarding the build quality, it seems more like a CP33 or CP50, no?
  2. Thanks. Not that I dislike any of those actions (or the CP5), but it's encouraging that this is new and not a NW variation of the GH action.
  3. So you prefer the CP4 action to the CP5? Aside from it being graded, in what ways is it more piano-like?

  5. I got the video to work. It's interesting how different Yamaha's Rhodes sounds are from Nord's. Totally different flavors. As for the Wurli, I'm not sure why he played below the low A.
  6. "This video is currently unavailable."
  7. See Dave Ferris's post from September 7 above.
  8. Posting this again to try to get a response... Athan: To my knowledge, Yamaha has never offered a proper upright sample. Sometimes a grand is too big; sometimes you want a "character piano." Nord currently offers excellent samples of numerous brands of uprights. What's the likelihood of Yamaha offering a U5 (or similar) sample in the future? I think most users would find this to be a welcome addition. Thanks for answering our questions.
  9. The more photos of the CP4 I see, the more I like how it combines all of the physical design elements of the CP1/CP5 and CP300/CP33 that I like: body of the CP33, buttons of the CP1/CP5, sliders of the CP300, silver/Rhodes-esque stripe on the CP1/CP5, same wheels as the CP1/CP5, etc. It's an attractive broad board.
  10. Can't wait for your post about how you don't like it and you're sending it back.
  11. Disagree bigtime. Also, IIRC, there was an OS update that improved the playability.
  12. ZOMG! Will this be a... game changer?! :idk
  13. This highlights a problem that, IMO, has plagued Yamaha for many years: not significantly upgrading the non-AP sounds (specifically EPs) in the P and CP series digital pianos. At the very least, the CP33 should've had one Motif-caliber Rhodes and one Motif-caliber Wurli. And the EP sounds in the "new" P105/P35 are embarrassingly out of date. It's WAY past time that Yamaha up their EP game in the P series.
  14. IIRC, he answered this above. Same technology but recalibrated for the new action.

  16. I don't recall hearing any obvious velocity switching when I've played the CP1/CP5's Rhodes sounds, and I've played them many times. Perhaps Busch can confirm; I'm sure he did more critical listening when he had the CP1.
  17. I think that's a fair assessment, and in fairness to Yamaha, they upped their EP game bigtime with the CP1/CP5, which, IMO, have primo EPs. I expect the ones in the CP4 will follow suit.
  18. I don't agree. Actually, I think they're pretty good -- definitely superior to what's in the CP33 and P series.
  19. I have a feeling the CP300 will be the last of its kind. The demand is for lighter weight stage pianos, not more tanks.
