The Rhodes on the '60s & '70s board are quite bad. Lose-lose. No one is (or should be) buying the VR for the EPs. Quite astounding/ridiculous that this thread has 1,000+ posts. There is nothing about the VR that justifies that.
-
If it's not Hammond, it's crap!
-
D-Bon, it really is a lot of fun to play!
-
Craig, Since getting your VR-09 and the post above, have you slept?
-
FYI, from the Digital Piano for Jazz gigs thread: I can tell you: horribly. I know because I've played it. The action plays like it's broken, and the default velocity curve for the acoustic piano sounds is embarrassingly off the mark. Roland should be doing a factory recall -- it's that bad.
-
Ah, so this is a back-up/rehearsal board. In that context, it makes much more sense. Thanks for clarifying.
-
No need to justify your credentials. But why not buy, say, an SK-1 that is nearly as light, sounds better, and provides a more authentic organ-playing experience?
-
I don't agree, but then I have no need for a do-it-all board.
-
Not interested in having a measuring contest here. You get what you pay for, etc. etc.
-
Compromising with these boards blows. Why do you think there's so much gear turnover on the forum?
-
There's also still the issue of the keys themselves. They're not full-sized, making them unsuitable for at least two of the three main things this board is supposed cover (organ and AP/EP). I don't know why any self-respecting, serious organ player would even consider this board when for not much more money they could get a clone with better sound and keys. And the complaints about weight are laughable.
-
Or piano or electric piano licks. It's just not a good action, period.
-
If the VR-09 weren't so light and "cheap," would this thread be 11 pages? Doubt it.
-
Isn't that pretty standard, or is it just wrong when Roland does it? Dunno but clearly they don't want people slagging their product.
-
I see that Roland disabled the comments on that video. 'Nuff said.
-
While I like the idea of 64 weighted keys -- Hello Wurli! -- and the form factor, the Ivory Feel G is one of the crappiest weighted actions going.
-
The VR-09 appears to have the same keys as the Juno-Di and Juno-G. I detest this action.
-
I think that's too high to compete with the Privias and Yamaha P105/P35.
-
+1 For perspective, I can't tell you how many times I've seen smaller bands use a Juno-Di or Juno-G live for just one or two string or synth sounds. And Electros are so prevalent, I think Roland will have a tough time stealing some of that market, even regardless of the VR-09's cheaper price.

I liked Dalton, and those title tracks are good -- certainly superior to any of the songs until Skyfall. What didn't you like about the Bond girls?
-
Bingo. If you grew up on the Brosnan movies and think that's what a Bond movie should be, you owe it to yourself to spend quality time with the Connery movies.
-
I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a real celebration of 50 years.

I can't take you seriously at all. That's a personal preference, not a legit criticism. Would you slag the fight scenes in The Matrix because they're also hyper-realistic? Come on, man. I like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan as much as the next person but there's room for many different styles of fighting. Woo-Ping Yuen did the choreography for Crouching Tiger. As you'll see, the guy is no slouch. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woo-Ping_Yuen

What's overrated about it?
-
It's Bourne, not Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
