  1. Gino Vannelli...check out the final crescendo at 4:40...OMG...
  2. SH-2 is one of my favourite bass-machines. Punchy, fat low-end
  3. It´s not about what this guy says...I can clearly hear that is sounds worse In fact, you have to mod it to get it "closer" to the original as KT has got the LFO speeds wrong....to mention one thing Believe me, I really wanted this to be good as the originals fetch really high prices these days
  4. Hehe...didn´t see your post when I posted my reply....funny that you also chose Ain´t No Sunshine as the minor example
  5. Without knowing so much about Nashville numbers...this is kind of what I felt...when songs are clearly minor...like "Ain´t no Sunshine...then it would be a bit corny with the relative major...and as you say, a song like My Funny Valentine starts in minor and chorus is in major, then you would write the "1 minor" as 6m...yet again I was maybe hoping to use "one" system for all...so Autumn Leaves has (almost if you would think as "starting" autumn on the tonic minor instead of the 4m) the same chord progression in the A section as Fly Me To The Moon....but the first one is minor and the latter major...so (Im) IVm bVII7 IIIM7 etc becomes Vim IIm V7 IM7....etc which makes it a little confusing for me on these types of (same) progressions...
  6. Trying to start with Nashville numbers and was curious how you use it in minor keys. Do you still think in “major” and name the ”minor tonic” as 6 etc Or do you name the minor tonic as 1? And in that case do you name 3, 6 and 7 like that or b3, b6 and b7? What about tunes like “The Way You Look Tonight” where the B section is in another key? Do you then think like “up a minor third” Would be grateful hearing about how you use this method. Pros and cons of the different ”versions” for minor.
  7. Wow....was a long time ago that I listened to him and have almost forgotten him....
  8. What's the difference between the Trirons apart from the "tube" in the Extreme?
  9. Yamaha gear from that era: TX-816 TX-802 TX-7 TX-81Z RX-17 (Not working D-5000 delay Had a DX-7D a long time ago which I sold when I got the TX-816
  10. Insanely difficult....but then gotta go with my early influences In no particular order: Joe Zawinul Herbie Hancock Keith Jarrett Chick Corea Would suggest a couple of more Mt Rushmores so all the others like George Duke, Lyle Mays and Cory Henry to name only a few can have their own rightful place too.
  11. Bassist Christian McBride hosted a Zoom tribute...what a lovely guy!! Thank you so much Mr McBride!!! As fellow bassist Darryl Jones said: "All the cats" https://www.facebook.com/100044484874193/posts/265521558274005/?d=n
  12. Herbie remembering Chick https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/herbie-hancock-interview-chick-corea-1128481/
  13. One of the absolutely greatest... Was thinking a while ago since Chick and Herbie were near 80...how much longer will they be around.... Still can't believe this is true... Heard Light As A Feather already as a kid as my dad played stuff like this all the time....so he is forever in my musical DNA Chick Corea has returned to forever Thank you for all the incredible music Maestro!
  14. The guy also builds OB-X voice cards and some people have them in their OB-X´s...to get an 8-voice out of a 4-voice... AFAIK they can´t hear any difference... I also like that he spent a lot of time to get the tuning "right"..on the VS-1..a new modern "tighter" tuning and a "vintage" one THIS is where all modern analog polys "fail" IMO....the OB-6 is just too "sterile" If Sequential will release an OB-X, they will probably screw it up just like the new "Prophet 5"....
  15. In one word...AWESOME!!! However...the P5 can't have been used on Spiraling Prism if recorded in ´77 as it was released first in ´78?
  16. Very good topic indeed! Thank you! I have used the Roli block a little...can´t say I mastered PLAYING on it...but fun to give that little extra for simpler playing. Also been using Yamaha breath-controller via my Kurzweils controlling all kinds of stuff.... I would like to see some breath-controller with CV/gate for my analog synths....midi 1.0 seems not be good enough for this Been eyeing the Touché-stuff myself...but just as you, wondering if it would be worth it....
  17. I suggested this to Tom Oberheim a couple years ago His answer was: "stay tuned"
  18. Yeah...this is more or less what it is... The slop or detune on the OB-6 sounds so fake and wrong it´s not even funny....it doesn't mimic drifting oscillators but adds some weird unmusical "detuning".... So I hope this new Vintage knob will do a little bit of a better job...
  19. As an owner of OB-X, OB-Xa and other vintage analogs, these super precise VCO´s of the OB-6 bothered me as I cannot recreate the behaviour of drifting oscillators that even my Nord Lead 1 has managed to simulate I contacted DSI and asked if there was any chance doing something about this like turning this background tuning or whatever it is, off, (like on the Andromeda) to make the oscillators move...and the answer from one of the main engineers was that "people like this precise sound" and told me to look for another synth if I don't like the OB-6 ....Talk about missing the point completely especially when I described all the things I liked with it.... I just bowed out understanding I won't get anywhere with him.... So I'm pretty sure we didn't talk to the same engineer...
  20. So... For everyone who complained (as myself) about the "dead stiff" VCO´s of the P6/OB6 which makes them sound like DCO´s... Finally, DSI has listened and have implemented the Vintage Knob feature from the new Prophet 5/10 Rev 4 in the latest Firmware 1.64 which is still only in Beta and only be downloaded from the DSI forum. Haven´t found a decent demo yet where the obvious test would be just a chord and turning the vintage knob up and down. It´s not selectable per patch (yet)...you have to choose the current "detune" character or the new vintage knob character in global settings. I will personally wait until it´s out of Beta as people reported wonkiness with pan spread etc after updating to the new firmware. I have no illusion it will make the OB6 behave like an OB-X, but hopefully useful enough to put a little "fake liveliness" into the DCO´s....sorry "VCO´s"... Oh, and the new firmware now supports MPE as well Main OS 1.6.4 Feature: MPE support Feature: Slop now supports normal slop or Vintage operation Here is one demo Beta firmware: https://forum.sequential.com/index.php/topic,1190.0.html
  21. Ends January 4 https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products/gig_performer_3.html
  22. People Music is my favourite track on Secrets. Such a wonderful vibe..the drums, bass and then Herbie...wow....and the synth sounds...gorgeous...yeah must be the four-voice...will kick myself forever for not buying that serviced four-voice for $ 3.500 about 7-8 years ago...thought it was "too expensive" at the time. Well at least I can multitrack my two original SEM´s....they sound better than anything else I've heard/tried. I also only heard Secrets first like a couple of years ago...just went by me...WHAT???
  23. Hi Tomislav!!" What took you so long? I have to 'join the choir' here and speak about the importance of the speaker. In a combo you could have a great amp but a speaker that won"t by far be optimal for Rhodes... We all have different tastes but.... My first 'tube encounter' was with a Laney VC-30 class A combo. It sounded like shit as the speaker couldn"t handle the frequency range of the Rhodes. (Freddan, the great Rhodes technician/historian from the Rhodes Supersite personally likes bass amps with Rhodes for that very same reason) Anyway, so I disconnected the speaker from the laney and plugged its amp to an old JBL PA speaker which my dad used in the 70"s when gigging. I almost fell off my chair...what a sound!!! So I tried a couple of amp heads which the different guitarists I played with used themselves. Also a 20 watt brown face fender head.... Awesome distorted sound but too early beak up Couple of years ago I went to a dudes rehearsal space Guitarist and TOTAL sound maniac in the highest regard Yes he has a voltage regulator which he adjust for his 20 something amps to make them sound the best So I brought my NE3 with me... He was scratching his head a little wondering where we should start. Then he digs out a weird amp looking like it was built in the DDR during the sixties 'I have a feeling about this one' he says.... So we hook up the Nord to it and the amp to a big old Hagström closed back bass cab with two Alnico 15"s IIRC.... The sound just blew me away!!! Couldn"t believe my ears and my hands. Sound was incredible!!! The stone dead Nord samples where alive and kicking big time. After a coupe of minutes I said, I wanna buy the amp. Turned out it was a CMI...a handwired 70" 100% Marshall Lead & Bass under a different branding (Like also Park etc) This Marshall sounds very different from all the Marshall"s I"ve tried before. It"s doesn"t have that dirty typical Marshall sound but more of a fender...but when pushed then comes distorsion into Jon Lord territory Unfortunately I should have bought the cab too... Because they were a match made in heaven. But it was just too big and heavy (giant is a better word) I"m thinking of finding a little bass cab for it like the small Mark Bass cabs...we"ll see....
