  1. You know a stand company that might send me something? People wouldn't believe how broke I normally am before going out...the X-stands work, I'm not gonna' buy anything new until something doesn't work.
  2. Greek Theater in Hollywood: sleepy soundcheck: In case you're wondering why that guitar coffin is right behind me on stage...they were a bit too cheap to hire me a proper tech this last tour...so...pretty much all tour I was grabbing my own instruments on the fly and adjusting tuning when possible as fast as possible. Sometimes it was fun but most of the time it just made my job a whole lot more difficult. But a Dry Ice machine? No matter what the cost, get it!
  3. If memory serves, I read somewhere he used an M-102 which is also a spinet but has percussion. I could be wrong.
  4. I uploaded a bunch of old shit that I've been keeping hid away for a while...some of you might enjoy some of it... http://www.reverbnation.com/tunepak/3357726
  5. Unfortunately, the camera guy didn't keep the camera on the background singers the whole time. indeed! Great band, real well arranged and played. I do have to point out that, to me, both tunes are a bit too 'on top'...in other words, I think your drummer (with a little help from everyone) was rushing at times that morning. I am being critical and that's something that kinda' bothered me throughout but it's all good.
  6. Here's a video of me just futzing around trying to play in time on a Novation Xio (not a comfortable keybed). There are some trips and smoke in my eyes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwaK7P5FleU And this second video is an inside joke that may or not be humorous to you but the music is decent. All sounds are VSTs, specifically Garritan Orchestra, Absynth, Tapeotronic (freebie mellowtron vst) and a couple of CubaseSX built-in synths. All recorded in Cubase SX3 using Novation Xio as controller/soundcard and a laptop. you should watch this one in HD if possible for best quality sound
  7. fwiw...you can hear my crazy music here: the 'jazzier' stuff is further down
  8. finished this recording yesterday, it's kinda different: http://www.jamfree.com/wishingchair2.mp3 (2.5mb) Elly LeBlanc wrote and sang the song
  9. an evolver and a geetar...Now with piano http://www.jamfree.com/slowdown.mp3
  10. yes, anyone can using Paypal...just send $12 to truth@jamfree.com and include your mailing address (but for my buddy, er, Bunny, you can just send me an email and pay the brah price which is a lot cheaper)
  11. real nice tone on the bass Bunny what the hell are you doing with that spatula in the middle of the tune? sounds x-rated funny cool tune
  12. I dunno what Mini-ATX means exactly, the case? sweetwater builds a good computer, it's kicking butt so far
  13. I composed this piece while observing my son's kindergarden class. I recorded all the music but felt something was missing, Miles came in my studio and started singing, we started playing around with plug-ins, found a vocoder setting that sounded fun, voila. the composition is very angular and weird, I'm still not sure I even 'like' it...but well, it's music I guess most of the tune was recorded using my brand new recording computer (Sweetwater CS Cube) with Cubase SX3...still learning SX3, so far I love it. milles http://www.artistlaunch.com/sleblanc btw, though the Lm-7 drums don't sound too bad, I probably will try to add real drums to this at some point, worth the effort I think phone cam pic of my new studio set-up: http://www.t-mobilepictures.com/photos/photo07/54/db/43dc64e12a65.jpg still needs some work of course (painted walls, mixer needs new location, etc.)
  14. Hi Jessica, MP3.com, as a place to share your music, went out of business a couple of years ago, this thread is older than that. For what it's worth, most of the songs I posted in this thread are no longer on the web, I used to have a ton of stuff online but recently I've decided to just make my latest project and a few other little things available, that may or may not change in the near future. Peace.
  15. hey Dave, could you edit my intro on page2 for me, I can't edit it since my screenname change made the old account dead... just delete the line where I said I learned to arrange for 60 piece orchestra 'cause it's not totally accurate....I mean yeah, I did arrange for 40 piece bigband and 'technically' I learned enough about strings to do it for orchestra but I never really did get as far as doing full arrangements for 60 pieces...was silly of me to post that I did back when I first joined this forum thanks I would probably like to edit a few other silly things I said when I had that old screenname but whatever
  16. don't knock yourself Jay...you played good, it was just a jam, the biggest benefit of doing stuff like this is often what you learn about your own playing afterwards. It's too bad you didn't have a real rhodes to play, they play themselves a bit more
  17. The mp3 is a little 'swishy' I'm diggin' the jam...kinda' funny ...cool.
  18. ok...got to listen to your tune...sounds good Mag...especially like the piano parts hmm...I'm thinking ArtistLaunch.com might be having some problems today due to hurricane Ivan...a lot of sites have been knocked out or slowed down because of power outages and the like.
  19. that sucks...and they were working so well for a while there...I'm sure it's just a temporary problem...I'll check it later and give yer new tune a listen
  20. dang, that was kinda rude ...for real though, try to think of at least one positive thing to say, eh? Yoozer, I enjoyed your clips...didn't sound 90s to me...sounded more 80s if anything...regardless, that don't matter, make the music YOU like, screw everyone else. Your piece is a bit too short for any production/writing advice from me so I'll just say I enjoyed your ideas. that's cool you've got people listening yeah you're doing fine on the arrangements, I just feel the less human your sounds/instruments the more important the arrangement, my opinion, take it how you will.
  21. Hi Robert, I listened to "Don't Close Your Eyes" I like the song a lot...nice vocal. Personally I don't like the sounds you use much, more a matter of taste than anything but considering the tools you have they aren't too bad. One other thing I could criticize is that I think the arrangement builds too soon...the track doesn't sound much bigger/intense at 3:00 than it does at 1:45. This is mostly because you don't have the energy of different musicians playing...the energy of sequenced synths stays the same throughout...a solution might be to make the first half of the song much more sparse...start big but at the first verse break it down to nothing but one instrument and a bit of percussion........or something like that. Just maybe experiment with making the arrangement more interesting. I'm being hypercritical though...overall I really like the song, thanks for sharing it.
  22. I'm still getting my midi/recording set-up working right...this was a test recording...a composition I wrote in 1989. Native Instruments B4 and Pro52 softsynths recorded using CubaseSX, Fender Strat and CB Jr. Drumkit "What" http://www.artistlaunch.com/sleblanc my garage studio: http://www.jamfree.com/stephenstudio/stephenstudio.html
