  1. How cool Ken. Always great to make music in an inspiring environment! 😎
  2. He and I shared that approach. I always said you have to wrestle these studio pianos to the ground to make them sing.
  3. Thanks for posting. I enjoyed watching. He's that guy, genuine, honest, fun to work for and fun to hang out with. He also said one of my favorite things ever said on a session, that still makes me smile just thinking of it. The artist had just offered his suggestion for an ending to the track, and we played what he'd asked for. Omar came on the mike and said "Bro,... with all due respect,... That sounds like a soup commercial". 🤣
  4. My Armenian brother from another mother 😉 What year was this? He and Terry did not look this young the last time I saw them, but then again, neither did I !😁 Update: Watched most of 2nd vid where Terry talks about this new plug called Ozone 7, so that kind of dates it for me.
  5. Many years ago I booked a sax player for an overdub solo. He came in and I played him the solo that I'd done on synth and told him I wanted him to replace the back half. He asked why I would give up any of what he thought was a great solo, and I told him that the keyboard player in me wanted the whole thing, but as the producer I knew it needed to be handed off. I was right, and he killed it.😎
  6. Happens all the time. Some producers like a particular take no matter what, and sometimes no amount of telling them you have a better performance on take 2 or take 3 will ever convince them to consider it.
  7. It's a commonly stated belief that it's the "differences" between male and female, that accounts for the disparity in past participation. Many people my age don't like to consider that for hundreds of years, men have made women feel unwelcome in every "Boys Club" be it Athletics, Math, Science, Music ........... Watch out Grandpa, the girls are coming.
  8. Reminds me of the story of the Businessman, in an Armani suit with a Rolex on his arm, and solid gold jewelry around his neck, headed for his Tesla in a parking garage. He gets robbed by a poor man who takes his wallet, keys, watch, jewelry and car, but is later caught by the police. His defense attorney argued that the victim was "asking for it" dressed like that. 😉
  9. Well I know who Bob is 😃 He's been a friend for years going back to some records we did together. His playing with Taj is all he'd ever need to have done for me to big a fan!
  10. Actually, we ALL don't. I've played Blues for well over 50 years and I can honestly say I never once thought about ANY scales while I did. I understand that your process is different, perhaps even common, but you shouldn't assume universality.
  11. IMHO: The absolute best way to get better is to play with people better than you. Stick with it. If they didn't think you had potential, they would have let you go by now.
  12. I doubt anything like it will happen for Bieber, but I remember after the Cash family sold Johnny's catalog, they were decidedly unhappy when Ring of Fire was used in a Hemorrhoid cream commercial. 😜
  13. It's been like 50 years ago, but I used to do what they called "pick up" gigs, where a club owner would call and say "I need a band for Wednesday", and I'd put one together for the night. I'd start with my top favorite players and work my way down for each spot until I had every seat filled. At the very bottom of the drummer list was a guy with a decent enough pocket, but he got so over excited when playing fills, he frequently came out of them one beat off. Suddenly his backbeat was now pounding on the rest of the band's 1 & 3. He belligerently refused to believe it was him, wouldn't change, and everyone else had to adjust to him. Sometimes when I got that far down the drummers list, I just called the club owner back and said "Sorry, can't make it".
  14. My post was just a nod to the legendary thread of several years ago.😝
  15. Gee....My favorite chord has (from bottom to top) G F A C# E, but I don't know "What Chord is This"? 😉🤣
  16. Thanks. Seems like a nice board for that price. I wonder who makes their action? Unfortunately, t's pedal capabilities are limited to on/off sustain and an expression pedal. I'm wanting a bit more.
  17. I just remembered the new Casio PX7000. I hear nice things about their new action, & it does have the continuous pedals and release velocity I'm interested in. Anyone have one?
  18. We stick mostly to Italian Reds, Amarone if someone else is buying 😄 We like most anything with some Corvina grapes in the mix, Gran Passione Rosa is our most days choice.
  19. That is what I use for sessions, but here at the house, I've kept a CME set up, which has a bit more of that "real piano" like feel. Since I've moved to Pianoteq, I was wanting to perhaps upgrade even further to something with a "top of the line" action and "king of the hill" piano feel.
  20. Matt tells me they recently sent him an A-88 MKII. He describes the action as not as heavy as the RD2000, and said he got accustomed to it quickly and it works well for him with Pianoteq.
  21. My friend Matt is also a fan of the Roland RD2000. Can you tell me, is that their own action or a Fatar model, and does it transmit release velocity? I couldn't find that in the specs page.
  22. As I consider replacing my very old CME UF80 with something newer and more capable, I see that there's a lot to choose from. I'm glazed over from reading opinions on PianoWorld and guess I will have to figure out how to try as many of these as I can. Kawai VP1, MP11SE, Studiologic SL88 Grand, Numa XPiano, Roland RD, Korg, Nord, on and on and on. I don't care about internal sounds, but will pay for them if the action is superior. I use the CME for a lot, but in reality, I want the best feel primarily for acoustic and electric piano emulations. Don't care about weight, and I want a dual or triple pedal and release velocity. I don't play any classical (and I do have 2 actual pianos in the house if I wanted to), but I want something that shines at responding well to touch whether I'm barely pressing the keys or banging the crap out of them. I've read many of the older threads here, but I'm interested in current impressions. Thx
  23. One of my favorites for years has been
