  1. This was done by Denny Tesdesco, who's the son of the great Tommy Tesdesco and the one who brought us "The Wrecking Crew" documentary. This could have been called "The Wrecking Crew Two".......I got to see a screening of this before it came out. As Eric mentioned, it's great. What an amazing era it was.....
  2. It's stunning how much the PR's have gone up over the last couple of years...often more than Deluxe Reverbs!
  3. Yeah, by the late 70's I was making $50-100 per gig. A shame it's almost the same amounts now for a gig...:(
  4. Bill, in 1972 the federal minimum wage was $1.60. I would think for most $650 was a pretty big spend in'72....
  5. Here's even more detail on how the Dodgers will be paying SO...interesting details: https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/newsletter/2023-12-13/shohei-ohtani-dodgers-dugout
  6. A testament to the durability and build quality of both the Leslie and Hammond. It's remarkable how they hold up with continued moving, shaking, bumping and any number of atrocities of the road. To say "they don't make 'em like that anymore" is a substantial understatement.....
  7. Since NAMM is just a few weeks away, you might want to wait and see what new things might be released? Even if you're not looking to buy new, things you may be interested in used might be dropping depending on what new keyboard will be announced there?
  8. Per Ken Rosenthal from The Athletic - "Ohtani deal with Dodgers, per source, includes “unprecedented” deferrals - the majority of his salary. The deferrals were Ohtani’s idea to ease the Dodgers’ luxury-tax and cash flow burdens to give the team the flexibility needs to be as competitive as possible, the source said." Interesting....underlines mine
  9. My late 70's band played "Johnny Hold Back".....love that song! They had a drummer in Charlie named Steve Gadd...ironically not the same SG as the more famous session man Steve Gadd. We thought it was until the internet confirmed them as different. What are the odds?
  10. Roger has also played with Beck for the better part of 20 years. Huge fan from the beginning. Their two albums still hold up. I saw the open for the Black Crowes...it was like seeing Wings open for The Faces.
  11. In my first high school band in the late 70's, I sat (Rhodes + MiniKorg). In college in the early 80's I formed a new wave band, and started standing. Haven't changed since, but this is in many rock bands as a setting where I feel more involved with the group by standing. Having said that, I had a duo for awhile where we both sat. In that scenario sitting seemed correct. YMMV....
  12. I bought a Clavinet on SGE, and I'm pretty sure that was the sellers situation as well. It had been up for 3-4 months before I waded in. He responded immediately when I first reached out with a couple of questions. I'm guessing they still don't have a ton of traffic to this part of their business yet, and therefore not many keyboard players are perusing the offerings...
  13. My "surprise" was the opposite...I had to pay CA sales tax. I assume it depends on the state you live in..
  14. Similar to MOI.....I made a bid lower than the reserve, but the seller quickly reduced the reserve as he and I were communicating via email about the price I was willing to pay.
  15. Dave, where were you living that you could even find not one but two Mellotrons to buy? Even here in SoCal in the late 70's, I don't remember ever seeing one in a store...and that includes the original GC in Hollywood and then later Goodman Music, which was the keyboard Mecca store in the greater LA area...
  16. And I still own my grandfathers '65 Ford F100 that I learned to drive on, and has the ubiquitous "3 on the tree"...
  17. Agree, and I have done this with my two boards and one QSC. But I really am spoiled by the stereo with the MS amp. It makes a difference....
  18. Motion Sound is a small company, but the newer models are really quite good and well thought out. They have been responsive when I had a question. I too like PPA speakers, and have QSC's, but for my use case I like the ease of a one box solution that is stereo-ish. And I think the MS handles piano quite well - maybe not quite up to the level of an RCF or other high end PPA, but certainly well better than any of the legacy "keyboard amps" that many of us have used over the years. Check out Al Quinn's Youtube video where he A/B's a MS with PPA. MS has really raised the bar with these new models. In the end it really comes down to what your tolerance for the schlep is? With two keyboards at rock shows with fast setup, PPA's and a mixer and stands doesn't make sense for me. The MS has stereo XLR outs, so very easy to put on a chair and have the sound guy plug me in and go. These keyboard amps from MS are NOT much of a compromise, if at all.
  19. Big fan of the MS line. I have the KP-610, which checks the boxes for me. You didn't mention your usage needs, i.e. with a band or duo or solo? I use with a fairly loud rock band with 2 guitars, and I can more than keep up with my 610.
  20. The new ones will NOT last 24 years like your last. The new ones are incredibly energy efficient, but because the compressor is constantly turning on and off, you'll only get about 8 years if you're lucky. And yes, extended warranty is the way to go.
  21. Speaking of power supplies, I was surprised to notice that this appears to have an internal PS.
  22. I wasn't familiar with Anthony..in case others are not as well... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Marinelli
  23. Eliot's website (https://www.eliotlewis.com) does not list Hammond as one of his endorsers? Only Roland, Bose and Reverend. That would explain the Roland and no Hammond?
  24. Hearing/seeing this reminds of how many chord changes are in this! I remember trying to learn it when it came out and getting really frustrated. They were the Steely Dan of the New Wave-ish bands out of the UK in the 80's....most of their tunes are pretty rich harmonically...
